Didn't that have a really cool (by 7 year standards) advert?

I Don't know. We didn't have a television at that time.

I believe FSN is referencing to this:

Indeed it is ... this is with a M113. It's the first military thing I had bought for me. I got it for Xmas when I was about 6. Think I was specially allowed out of hospital for that Xmas.

Never looked back!

Those tank choices are so historically inaccurate, but how many of us ever noticed?

The Millenium Falcon, Slave 1 and an AT-AT

They HAVE to be EVERYONE'S default.

Did everyone also know the jammy bastard who had one or more these?  >:(

OMG so many happy memories have come flooding back :). I always wanted a JCB toy that we called "a bucket on the front and a bucket on the back". I used to see it in Eden Lillies in Cambridge but sadly it was too expensive :(.

For me it was

when I was 8 or nine (1961/ 62).

My cousin had umpteen of these and I was desperate to get the Graf Spee which I thought looked really cool. Eventually got Achilles as a consolation because I got chicken pox and couldn't go to some show with my sister and cousins. Would far rather have had Achilles and chicken pox than go to the show tbh.

Never saw these.

I did have a massive collection of Airfix waterline models that my brother and I used to play with.  The "rules" were:

Main gun: 12" or bigger you rolled a "dobber" (fat marble) at the enemy ship.
Ancillary gun: 6"-12" you rolled a marble at the enemy ship.

Battleships could take 3 hits
Cruisers 2
Destroyers 1

I had completely forgotten this til I saw your ships  :)
