The holt tractor is funky - how close to the front where these used?

On the lorry, I'm sure I have filed off the ridge along the top of tarpaulin covers in the past - now it seems they were intentional, doh.

Is that some stowage pieces as well?

Not to sure how close to the front the Holt was used  but France used them in Africa? as well and I think we used them in Palestine ?

If I were creating Pendraken I wouldn't mess about with Romans and  Mongols  I would have started with Centurions , eight o'clock, Day One!

If I remember correctly, the Holt tractors (there were at least a couple of types) were used to haul the big guns - 8 and 9 inchers. Used by the Brits and the French and possibly the Americans. I'd assume they'd be back from the front line but hauling guns forward during a push (and back in a retreat!).

Edit: I should have just looked this up first and posted the link - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Holt_tractor

Still, nice to see I was pretty much right. Looks like the model is a Holt 120?

Hello

Very nice especially the Lancia truck. I can see this being used not only in the Italian theatres of war but anywhere where a generic 1930s truck is needed, Gangsters, Back of Beyond, VBCW, etc. Looking forward to them.

Cheers

Yes, the truck looks very useful and I love the detailing on both models.
When you realise we're all mad, life makes a lot more sense.

Thank you gentlemen I will put the other version of the Lancia on later hopefully and THANKS PHIL aka Techno for the tips on what tools to use for sculpting,

Lord Kermit of Birkenhead

Similar vehicles to the Holt were used for the same purpose by both the Austrians and Germans. Tactically I suspect that once the beasts were emplaced the tractors would be sent back to shuttle up the huge quantities of ammunition used - so it could be anywhere between railhead and gun site.

Probably not, so you'll need to get a new signature picture sorted for those...  :D

As a serious question, what are the steps involved in getting a something on the market? I know very little about the process, but there does seem to be a lot of juggling of moulds, masters  and casting dwarves.

How long from concept to photo on the site?

It really depends on what it is, but the basic process is:

Figure sculpted ---> put into master mould ---> master castings produced ---> production mould made ---> figure goes on sale.

The delays come about for a variety of reasons.

- Any masters which contain plastic need a low-temp mould producing, so we send those down to our friends at Kallistra to do, and we need to have a full mould's worth before we can do that, so we sometimes end up waiting on more masters to fill one.

- Similarly, we need enough masters to fill a regular mould, although it's very rare we don't have enough here!

- The master castings need to be checked over and sometimes need puttying or small repairs to them.

- We also do a lot of moulds and casting for other companies, so this can delay our own stuff when we've got a lot on for someone else.

- Plus all the general day-to-day stuff, and not having the spare time to get things prepped, cast off for the production moulds, blackwashed or photo'd for the website.
