fred.

We met in 93 (I think!!) at Newcastle Uni (post grads) - engaged a couple of years later, in the Grand Place in Brussels, and married in 99 in Cambridge.

First ring was rather cheap as we (she) couldn't decide on what was wanted - but we did get a proper one a year or two later.
Wedding was a fairly big family do, with a church (father-in-law is a vicar) - reception turned out really good - even though neither of us had really wanted the big wedding thing.

Still going strong nearly 14 years later, now with 2 kids.

I never wanted kids and after my first rather short marriage I wasn't in a hurry to marry again.
Lynne & I had been together about 14 years when she proposed to me at the top of a mountain in the Cairngorms in 2004. She had even got the wedding rings. I can't remember the month but we got married in October the same year, probably about 6 months later.
Still very happy and glad we did it.

Edit - "wedding" added to "wedding rings". We didn't have engagement rings.
Sadly no longer with us - RIP (2018)

1st Proposal - The hills above Haworth (Bronte Country) - I explained that the ladies at work had been asking whether they needed to think about buying hats - I don't think I got half way through the sentence before my beloved has run away

2nd Proposal - Bedding Dept of a Department Store in Hull - My beloved said that it would be nice to have some good quality bedding - as I sank onto one knee explaining I knew a good way to get people to buy us some bedding - she pushed me over and ran away.

3rd Proposal - Go Outdoors (Camping Shop) nr Wakefield - Whilst testing out a camping table, I reached over and held her hand - she knew what was coming and ran away...

4th Proposal - Plumbing aisle, B&Q Cortonwood, Barnsley - I was kneeling on the floor having just found the bag of brass olives, I asked whether, whilst I was down there, there was anything she like me to say - she ran away

5th Proposal - Welsh Slate Mining Museum, Llanberis, Wales - My beloved was buying a pair of Cowl bowls and I passed her a hematite ring (cost 1.50 GBP) and said get that for me.  Asked her just outside the gift shop and she finally said yes

1st to 5th proposal - 18 months

18 months from "yes" to "I do".

Just celebrated 5 happy years, and she still goes on about having had to buy her own engagement ring...

A friend of mine demanded 'a rock' from her partner before she would even consider his proposal.

He found a pebble on the beach, had it mounted on an antique ring and gave it to her. She accepted. She still wears it to this day, eighteen years later!

She had a proper ring, which she wears on the wrong hand...

Met "her" 2007 end of June.
Knew it was "her" or none in August same year.

Asked her and became engaged June 2008.
Married October 28th 2011 and happy ever since. No way we gonna split. She has been thoroughly tested and declared compatible with the hobbies I have.

I think I proposed in May 1995 and we were married in the June of the same year in Nigeria. My work contract was not renewed so we needed to do it damned quick due to visa issues. Been happily married for just over 18 years now :).

I popped the question in 1989 at the Exeter Court Motel in South Devon... over a nice meal and a bottle of bubbly. Got married a year later (was an amazing wedding day). We were together for 16 years, had two lovely daughters (one of whom is a member in these forums)... and my ex wife and I are still incredibly good friends to this day. She`s the one I often turn to when I need a good friend - and vice versa.

Now I live with another incredible woman... and she`s my fiancĂ©. No idea when I`ll pop that scary question  :-\

During a game!

"The hero turns to you in the flickering darkness of the corridor and gently drops to one knee.  After briefly fumbling in his knapsack, he draws forth a small leather pouch, which he turns upside down to dislodge the contents into his outstretched palm.  A small golden ring glimmers in the torchlight as he grips it tightly and lifts it towards you.  He begins to speak, but stumbles over the words before composing himself once more.  'Will you marry me?' he asks gently....

What's your response?!"

Well if it was like any of our games  it would have been " Oi !you been hidin treasure from us ya bastard?"
If I were creating Pendraken I wouldn't mess about with Romans and  Mongols  I would have started with Centurions , eight o'clock, Day One!

Now don`t you just KNOW me Leon, that's most likely how I would do it. Her answer though... hmmmm. You know what, I`m gonna show her this and get her actual (fictitional) answer. She`ll be back from work soon.
