Inspired by Leon's poll and his good news on finally being made a decent chap of, I wondered about the following...

1.  How did you go about popping the question?

What time delay there was between popping the question and finally getting hitched?

My own 'popping' was at the wishing well at Scarborough Castle.

From pop to hitch was another 7 years... :-[
I don't think my wife likes me very much, when I had a heart attack she wrote for an ambulance.

I was a poor student so couldn't afford a ring.... I popped the question using the toy pewter 'one ring' from my lord of the rings risk game, it just fit over her first knuckle

we were married 6 months later in a registry office and the reception consisted of a slap up meal for about 10 of us, £100 all-in

I will note that this was partially a marriage of convenience so my american partner could get her UK visa, but it's coming up for 9 years in september, and we've produced a sprog so I think any suspicions of illegitimate shenanigans are assuaged by now!
my hobby/painting blog: full of 6mm goodness coming soon, 10mm goodness too!

I cant actually remember who asked who now. I think it was 7 years ago but neither of us can remember the actual date without looking at the certificate

Cost of wedding and reception 125 quid
If I were creating Pendraken I wouldn't mess about with Romans and  Mongols  I would have started with Centurions , eight o'clock, Day One!

first wife - popping to marriage 4 years, wedding cost a fecking fortune (castle in Italy, hired 5 star hotel for the guests) - length of marriage 9 months.

second wife - popping to marriage 15 months, wedding cost next to nothing (registry office then pub lunch). Marriage still going strong with 3 kids.

I think we just assumed we'd get married. I think I formally proposed in a car stuck in a traffic jam. Well, we were bored. Took about a year to happen. Was married for 20 years, but now released from the shackles.

Married in the local registry office, then festivities in a pavillion in her father's garden. About 50 of us I reckon. Didn't cost me a lot then, but in the years that followed ...

Though I have to say that if not for the late lamented spouse, I wouldn't have the apple of my eye, the 2nd reason for living (behind being the butt of Centurion related humour on the Pendraken forum) my lovely, expensive daughter.

My grandfather, who was either extremely wise or a complete barm-pot (and the safer money is on the latter) would oft say "you see all these beautiful brides, and you have to wonder where all the nagging old bitches of wives come from".

having said that, I think marriage is a wonderful thing, and wish Leon and the future Dark Lady well.
