Yes, my wife had hers cloned - we think - at a local restaurant and they took it to New York and spent a couple of grand there (because there's no chip and pin there). The bank reimbursed her, but now she will never use an ATM, preferring to get "cash-back" at the local supermarkets.

I got a phone call one Saturday morning from my Card Company.  They said "Have you just checked out of a hotel in Bankok?"

I said "As you got me out of bed at home, its unlikely"

They said "That's what we thought..."
I have neither the time nor the crayons to explain why you are wrong.

Rather strangely, the number of posts over the past four days have been:

15th Apr - 88
16th Apr - 77
17th Apr - 66
18th Apr - 55

:-/ @-)

If we get 44 posts today, I'll know there's something spooky going on...

Our last trip abroad we used a Travelex pre-loaded cash card - dead handy, as it works the same a a debit card, and keeps a lid on your spending :) And you can't get cloned etc

I put the washing on this morning, and just hanging it out in the sun I thought, "These shorts feel heavy. What have I left in the pocket?"
It was my mobile phone, which was left switched on.  :'(
It is now dismantled and lying in the sun. Fingers crossed but not much hope I don't think.

Luckily it's a cheapy one.
Lynne (my wife) said "Don't ever moan at me again for leaving stuff in MY pockets." Fair comment.  :-[
Sadly no longer with us - RIP (2018)

Albie....
Whether this is true, I'm not sure.... :-\
But I've seen forensic scientists on the telly using uncooked rice to help absorb moisture from mobiles that have been immersed in water.
I'm guessing that it is a bona fide method.....Might be worth trying as a last resort !!

What sort of rice?

And this wasn't on CSI was it...Its not real you know!
If I were creating Pendraken I wouldn't mess about with Romans and  Mongols  I would have started with Centurions , eight o'clock, Day One!

That's it....Destroy all my illusions ! ;) ;D
(I thought if Abby said something was true....It must be. ;D ;D)

Just had a quick Google....and folk do use rice as an anti desiccant in electrical equipment....But it's not 100% effective.
Cheers - Phil (Self confessed NCIS addict.....Who in the States is going to get me a region 2 DVD copy of season 10 when it comes out over there ? :))
