Gentlemen,

In my Grand Design (v8.4 modified 13th April 2013), I am approaching a decision nexus. I have completed phase 1 in which I have purchased and painted (nearly) 1940 forces of platoon/company strength, with options to upgrade to 1943. I have purchased ACW forces and they will soon present themselves on my painting table. Phase 3 (War of the Roses) is in purchasing mode. This latter may of course be gazumped by the long awaited release of the Pendraken Centurion which will of course, mean that Korea, Summer 1950 is a goer.

Anyway, with this all in hand, I am reviewing the Grand Design (v8.4 modified 13th April 2013) and am aware that the next next step is going to be a big one. Either I start on the Napoleonics, or dive into Ancients OR I make a complete vault face and go for a new combined multi-everything period that may or may not be a period but in fact is a melange of as many film and TV genres that I can cram onto one table.

So, the time line can be anywhere between 1970 to 2060. The landscape will be city. The forces are Goodies (UK), Goodies (US) and Baddies. What I envisage is something like:

Goodies (UK 1980): Army, SAS, Land Rovers, Centurions, Scorpions, Scimitars. (Falklands ranges) Policemen (WWII range)
Goodies (US 1970): National Guard, M48, M113, (Vietnam Range) SWAT (SF)
Baddies: Pseudo-Aliens, Pseudo-Predator, Zombies (you promised Leon!)
Civilians: Colonists (SF), Civilians (WWII +anything else I can get)
Goodies (Mega-City 1): Judges & Judge vehicles (SF)

Now, the bits I'm missing:
Civilian vehicles, US Cops, Superheroes (DC not Marvel *ftooh*), Super villains, Dr Who, UNIT & Daleks, Modern military hardware (like Challengers and M1s), Captain Scarlet & Spectrum (WWII German infantry in field cap?) and random personalities that I think of (e.g. Torchwood).

Any thoughts? I'd like to stick to Pendraken if possible. I'm no a great modeller, but to make up for it I'm half blind anyway, so I'm quite loose on my approximations.

Any ideas on scenery. How about the Hawk stuff?

Rules will be interesting. Batman vs a zombie Alien. Could the Mysterons take over a Predator? How would Judge Dredd cope with a Dalek? :-\

Hawk do nice scenery, but a lot of people are put off by the prices.  There are some other companies doing downtown style laser buildings though.  For modern civilian vehicles, have a look at some of the N-guage cars on eBay.  They're not the most detailed things in the world, but they are relatively cheap, and you could fill a few streets with them.

Thanking you sir.

Any thoughts on something that I could use as US cops? I'm thinking something with a peaked cap. How about the Russian WWI?

Also, could you let me know what's in AC11 dinosaurs. I'm guessing no T-rex?

Take a look on this post, The 3rd and 4th picture show the russian officers in peaked caps. one is running with a pistol, the other sitting down with a map. The running one is usable as a cop in my opinion.  ;)

I have neither the time nor the crayons to explain why you are wrong.
