Late Roman clibanarii with bow: are they firing the bow,  or carrying it while mainly armed with lance? Are they on fully- or half-armoured horses? Any photographs available?

Ah, perfect. I rather fancy  half-armoured rear-rankers firing bows behind the super-heavy lancers when I succumb to the temptation to do Byzantines, Crusaders, and Ayyubids one of these days. Doing a lot of searching to find suitable Byzantines-to-be.

Ta.

Any chance of pix of ARL 20 and 21?

Oops, I should have remembered; I've got some already! Sorry to waste your time, Leon. But I agree that they're lovely figures (mine are serving as the tribal noble cavalry in my Abyssinian army).

Abyssinians? Really curious... In wich ruleset do you use them?

Fenton

If you look at the painting comp, Irregular Wars has some painted examples in his entry
If I were creating Pendraken I wouldn't mess about with Romans and  Mongols  I would have started with Centurions , eight o'clock, Day One!

My own: White Man's Burden, a set of rules which does for colonial wargaming what Shakespeare did for tapdancing.

ARL20 and ARL22. Really lovely figures to paint!

As you will have seen, ARL21 are the same as ARL20 but with bows and quivers attached to the saddle/legs.
