Did my old ears deceive on the news this evening ?

Could have sworn I heard Findus had been found producing a ready meal containing up to 100% horse meat.
Well..... If they call the product "Beefless Anjya"....What's the problem ?
They're already admitting there's no beef in it, aren't they ?

(Can someone tell me what sort of food Anjya is ?.....Never heard of that before.)

;) :P

Nosher

Anjya is a female Russian Shotputter - hence 100% horsemeat ;)
I don't think my wife likes me very much, when I had a heart attack she wrote for an ambulance.

But seriously, ain't it the time to start severley punishing those bastards?

Squirrel

Why? Seems to me horse must taste just like beef as no one seems to have noticed until they did a DNA test ........

Mind you the French have been happily eating horse meat for years so it must be ok 8-} X_X

As a veggie, i'm really pretty baffled by all the hullabaloo.

Meat's meat isn't it?  If you're willing to eat the sort of minced up dirt you get in cheap processed meat products why do you care which particular animal it's come from?

I try never to eat a meal unless at least one bit of it once had a face and a mother, and I can't see the problem here. I've eaten cow, pig, sheep, deer, zebra, springbok, crocodile and all sorts of birds (including ostrich, which was more like beef...) Horse is just another red meat to me. The one objection I would have is that, if I pay for beef, I expect beef. Market it as horse and I'd buy it just for the novelty...

Besides, at least it IS meat - and therefore one of the more palatable things you'll find in a burger...

I think that's the main problem Wulf.

Personally I don't have a problem with anyone else eating whatever they fancy....But if you buy something that says it's beef, that's what it should be.
It's down to the false labeling, to me.

(I wouldn't be able to knowingly eat horse....But that's just me. ;))

With Lud.....If he bought a ready made vegetarian meal (maybe you make everything from scratch Lud....so it might never be an issue ??) and then found that there were animal products contained in the package, that would be very wrong too.
You wouldn't be getting what you were paying for.

Cheers - Phil.

True Phil.

The wife's stopped eating Quorn.  She's always been convinced there's meat in it anyway.   ;D

I guess like all veggies though, we accept a certain amount of meat 'inclusion' in processed food anyway.
