Great link, thanks.

The same channel has the excellent BBC series 'Storm from the East'; a four part series on the Mongol invasions.

I have this series "The Great War" narrated by Sir Michael Redgrave, in a DVD boxed set. Total running time is 18hrs 25 minutes. Originally broadcast on BBC in 1964. It is, simply, magnificent!

As Mollinary said "The Great War" series from 1964 was magnificent - got mine for free from some daily newspaper vouchers a couple of years back, but probably still available on Amazon/ebay for a tenner

I was lucky enough to get it about 7 years ago for 30 quid when the local BBC shop closed down...watch at least once every 6 months
If I were creating Pendraken I wouldn't mess about with Romans and  Mongols  I would have started with Centurions , eight o'clock, Day One!
