Is it odd that I enjoyed re-organising my DVDs?

As it says... As my works quite at the mo (I'm a painter and decorator) I had a hover and put my marigold's on and did some tidying and I thought. Better put the DVDs away from next to the TV and put them in the cabinets. Once there I thought I'd waist some more 'free' time and re-organise. So I pulled them ALL out, checking every last box had its disk and such.

I did have it sorted as followed:
•War films - Self explained, but some films were odd, dead presidents could be a Gangster film, Forest gump?
•Acthion and gangster - Odd mix, it's really, films the wife ain't into
•Sci Fi - Seams a plan but 75% were Doctor who
•Horror/Scary - Good section but as the wife loves slasher films this section was bursting
•Games/music DVDs - Or Misc
•Kids - My wife's almost 30 and loves Disny? What is that... Although Labaranith, Dark Crystal and Krull at fab!
•Familly- Another odd name for a couple with no kids, this is basically the kinda stuff Chanel 5 have on, on a Sunday afternoon.

The above is just stupidness. War was a half empty cupboard and others had too much, so here's what I've don...

• Kids - Some Familly have been boxed into this section
• Horror - As it was
• Dr Who (Behind is games and Music DVDs)
• Box sets (unless its one of the above)
- This is the bit I most like...
• Feature film A-H
• Feature film I-R
• Feature film S-Z

I love this new way... No more, "what's Alien that scary but a sci fi ?" Etc.but it gives Dr who it's own section (Games behind but you can't tell, I don't game now anyway). It also means Disny crap and Horror are out the way and so all the rest, be it War, Sci Fi, gangster, Acthion etc are all together looking awsome.

So is it odd that on my way up to bed just now, I opened my cabinet doors a d looked at my DVDs, 300, 2001, Air Force One, Alien, Aliens, Alien 3, * Basic, The Big Lebowski etc... I just felt real good... What is that and is it normal?

* There was no Alien 4... Your mistaken

I think there IS something vaguely satisfying about sorting out something like the DVDs..... ;D ;D
Mine are 'all over the shop' at the moment....So if I fancy watching a particular film, it usually takes so damn long to find it, I usually end up watching something else I find buried in the collection. :D

No Alien 4 ?...Resurrection ? :-\ :-\.......Never bothered to replace Alien 3... still only got the video....Not over keen on that one.....Then there are the rather iffy aliens v predator DVDs....The second one ?...Dearie, dearie me. :-&

Cheers - Phil.

You're still using DVDs???? How 1990s!!! Solid state memory sticks and hard drive recorders are what the cool kids use in this here digital age.

Raider4

Heh, my DVD's are all organised so that they are in order of when the film was set historically.

So, Troy comes before Life Of Brian which is before Gladiator which is before King Arthur, etc, etc.

Although this does pose some problems with fantasy & sci-fi. Is Middle-Earth set before the Hyborian Age (Yes?). Is Pitch Black set after Aliens? What about Star Wars ("A long time ago ...)?

Cheers, Martyn

Because I denied the existence of such a film, same as Terminator, there is Terminator, T2 and Salvathion, no Terminator 3 at all!

Raider4, what a different way of organising! If your being serious, Star Wars should be your first. All the Sci Fi films, your going to have to sort them all, work out the date or as near as poss! LOTR and Fantesy films? Some you can get an aprox from when it appears it is set, but LOTR... Dark Ages??

Yes one day I will lose my DVDs, but that will be a while as I have surround sound all layer under the carpet and such, and it only has DVDs... Although I think there is a input... If I had a mini hard drive that could be controlled by remote!

I don't even have 3D, although, I think 3D os the emperors new clothes, it's not 3 D it's pop up page style, it's like layers, you don't call a pop up book a 3D book. Any way, it means that my new 50" was way cheaper tha. It was last year.

Depends on your veiwpont. My partner is convinced all wargamers are odd.

I think all wargamers have a bit of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder - otherwise why would we spnd so long organising armies, terrain, Making sure we put the right unit back in the right box etc etc.

So as a wargamer getting satisfaction from having your DVDs in perfect order is perfectly normal - for a wargamer. :)

So in my opinion Vulpine you are as normal as the rest of us on this Forum - Whether this forum is full of "normal people" is another issue. :D

Sure, did you know that Alien 4 was poop? And did you know that 90% of people who have watched Alien 4 wish that they hadn't.

Someone who doesn't throw his money at the new stuff  ;D

My parents still watch vhs quite often, they still record stuff from tv too. Why throw it all away and buy it anew if it still works?

Haven't you ever dug up a mini that you discarded a decade ago, and gave it a new life?

;)

Btw i like alien ressurrection!
