I see they've adopted the Star Trek device of beaming down to interesting planets.

Thought the third episode was OK...But not a lot more than that.
Also think Luddite's comment about the series parodying itself is spot on.... there seemed to be quite a few scenes that were like 're-hashes' of 'things that have gone before'.
Maybe I want to like it too much....I dunno.
It'll probably grow on me when I watch it again.

I think the best episodes are those that focus on the tensions between the characters who are thrust into a hopeless situation.

The episodes that don't work so well are those that break the 4th wall and reference/parody earlier 'fan lore' (the Dibbly / Ace memes for example) or that bring in external factors or other people/aliens, like last episode.

I'm sure after 10 series its hard for the writers but theres so much ground that could be covered within Red Dwarf itself that they've left untouched.

RDX so far hasn't been terrible.  Some of it's been quite good.  Good enough for me to stick with it at least! 

Definitely good enough to stick with ! (Don't get me wrong, if I sounded a bit negative.)
Like I said above....I think I want to like it too much...(If that makes sense.)
