My kitty has decided that she enjoys drinking from the tub of water that I use to clean my brushes while painting. Does anyone have similar experiences, and is acryllic paint toxic?
I don't drink coffee to wake up. I wake up to drink coffee.

Some acrylic paint is toxic but it depends on the brand.

I'd try to avoid letting her do it just to be safe.

:(

Bad kitty.

Put a cap on the tub and leave the toilet lid up.

I agree with Luddite.
Just to be on the safe side.
You just never know if there's something in the paint that will have an adverse effect over time, if she drinks a lot of the 'cleaning' water.

Ours don't.

They love hoovering up the leftovers off our dinner plates irrespective of what it is.

Watching a cat stagger about sneezing after its licked chilli covered rice never stops being funny.   ;D

They come back for more though...daft little creatures...

Yeah - good luck with that...I refer our esteemed colleagues to a previous post I've made on the topic:

Shecky

My cat did that. I use a mason jar for my cleaning water and used to keep it filled pretty high. Once he started doing that I had to remember to fill it up below the point where he can stick his head in and get a drink.  He also drinks out of the toilet and will sometimes wait by the bathroom door until we have done our business and then get a drink of fresh water.

My Toby (Choc Lab) will eat/drink anything. He Likes to lick the plates in the dishwasher...

I know this apears normal, however, we have a slim line dish washer. So sometimes there ain't enoght room for all the plates so one or two are left on the sink, I come to re load and by then a small pile of 8 or 9 plates/bowls/pans have apears and that bottom plate is left agin... After a week that bottom plate has a lovely green tinge.. Yes you know we're this story is going....

I'm seeing/hearing one or two things that worry me a bit with this discussion...

a) Not washing up for a week...

b) Cats licking plates... hence they are either on the dining table or kitchen units (unless human eat off the floor...)[/li][/list]

and

c) its "better to be on the safe side and not let wimp drink from your dirty brush pot"

Cats lick their arses for fecks sake!! And your letting them lick plates humans eat off but you're worried about them drinking dirty paint brush water? :D :D

As for not washing up for a week, thats just lazy :P

If you own animals and allow them into your domestic environment, you accept a level of biological contamination that is in fact far more traditional and natural than the chemical contamination (from 'cleaning products') that soak most homes nowadays.

As a species we are animals with 250,000 years of living in close proximity to other animals, and 60 years of close proximity to chemicals.

:D

Cats licking their arses isn't the worst of it really, given their use of litter trays etc.

It's OK though because...

Greetings

Our dog and cat aren't allowed to lick plates but it sometimes happens - the plates get cleaned at high temperatures with dishwasher detergent/fairy liquid so that's not a big deal.   It is however  always a good idea to wash your hands after you've been slobbered over by the dog or (occasionally) had your fingers licked by the cat.

My kitties point out that you should wash your hands before a cat condescends to lick them.
