Anyone know much about these rules? Have read loads of good reports on them but the price is pretty steep.......

Yep - my opinion FWIW: and I should state here that I'm a frequenter of the AAG forum [1000+ posts]...and probably could be considered something of a fan...

- I love Ambush Alley for playing skirmish assymetrical - for me it's ultra-modern in 28mm, but I've seen others adapt for all kinds of assymetric periods - for skirmish: and it works really well...fast, intuitive & scenario-driven = thumbs-up

- I did buy FoF - but then sold it on: for me, once you rack up the scale to larger forces, you're into my favourite territory of BKC / CWC: and I'm not going to give them up...FoF does refine some of the AA rules [which came a long way first] - but, for me, doesn't 'grab' me as much....YMMV

- I abso-feckin-lutely love Ambush Z: the single best set of zombie rules that I've played: and I've played them all. No, really. Top-notch.

In relation to the future, Osprey are going to be publishing AA rulesets in the future: I'd wait for that [early next year IIRC] - or get just the PDF..

Cheers Nik, Group of us play 28mm moderns with some home made rules with bits from various rules added but we often argue about the armour/ weapons of the modern mbt's/ifv's. How much detail do the FOF rules go into for vehicles?  ;)

Enough to differentiate & give 'flavour' - but not enough to make you lose the will-to-live... ;D

They're fast play - so you won't get bogged down in unnecessary detail.

That's what I like with this rules. I don't want to argue anymore about details.
Here, as historical commanders, you may think what you want about your tanks/rifles/guns, you just have to do with it.
It's very surprising during the first games.. and then it worked (for us).

my 2 cents.
