Please allow me to introduce myself, I`m a man of wealth and taste...

Stumbled into your highly enjoyable corner of the web, following a couple of links from GWP and the "build" tread at the guild and decided to join the fun.

I`m a Norwegian in my early 40s, interested in getting into wargaming. In my earlier days I built military models, did a bit with RPGs (AD&D, Chutulu et al) and pushed battalions over hexgrids and thought these former interests may come toghether in some WG.

I`m building factions for VBCW in 20mm and have a rather large crate of NWF fellows in 28 thats collecting dust so I thought why not check out another scale to have a go at, oogling the Zulu and the Sudan ranges as well as the War to end all wars (both parts)...

Being that the historical wargame scene in Norway best can be described as non-existant, the plan is (still) to produce enough factions and invite some military inclined friends over for some gaming. Unfortunatly, I have way to many hobbies going so the idea takes its time to come to fruition, but just painting and modelling some odd bits now and again is grand.

I disagree with Hertsblue - the decision to do one period or scale changes very quickly in WarGaming - even your goodself has 20mm and 28mm and then thought 10mm was a good idea

Solo play is good - no-one to tell you when you are doing it wrong - which is most of the time with me.

The painting and modelling side is very relaxing and satisfying - as you have something to show for the time spent.

@FK, I do find the Vikings quite fascinating as a historical subject, but not enough to game them, even though I suggested to a CO of a Naval unit which I was seconded to that we should use the boatsquadron to refresh our cultural heritage by plundering down the swedish coast...  

I could possibly stretch my interest back to the Naps, if I found figures that would do for Norwegians and Swedes to game whats called "the 7 years war for 17th May" which is a string of Swedish attacks on Norway as well as British Navy blockades of Norwegian Coastal waters, because the Danish-Norwegian King thought Napoleon was a splendid fellow. I`ve been a member of a reenactment group which does this period and have some friends still active in This group so there may be some interest.

I do believe some of the cavalry units used Tarletons...

Personally I think the Anglo-Swedish War(1810 -1812) is the way forwards with Scandinavian Napoleonic conflicts:

Sounds exiting, Mad Lemmey. 

British ships sails in and out of the harbour and the swedes kills their own peasants. I can see a long and tedious campaign on this one.
