My French army for the winter campaign; colours are a bit 'off' in some of these pics (couldn't wrestle the camera into submission today) so I might re-take these at some point:

Now that's what I like to see, masses and masses of high quality painting!
These are beautiful Nik and I think your winter kit looks superb.
Fantastically fantastic!  8) Should I mention tales of a great deal of French line units after the fall of Sedan removed their Eagles, how true this is...?  :-\
Dare we ask how long they took?  :D

Nik,

They look great, as all your work does.  Particular favourite is the artillery - very purposeful!   ........but can I ask about the flags? (yes, I can hear Cameronian groaning in the background!).   I have never seen a source which reverses the French colours as you seem to have done on your tricolours.   All the ones I have seen, from the Napoleonic wars' examples to present day, have the colours in the order blue, white, red, from the hoist to the fly, on both sides. I sent some French guard off to a professional painter (who shall remain nameless, but isn't Fernando) some time ago, and got them back in the order red/blue/white, which was original!  Rest of painting was OK though.

To be honest - I've taken my time with these - about 2.5 weeks from black undercoat; couple of reasons: firstly, work is a bit manic & loads going on family-wise at the moment so I haven't had a chance to do serious painting in anything more than half-hour bursts at best; secondly, I actually wanted to slow my painting down a bit - just to keep the old eye in - otherwise I'll only ever speed-paint and that's not what I want to do...so these have had more attention (especially the lancers). I'm really happy with them...

Bollox! There was me thinking, red, white & blue - and my mind has translated that automatically into L-R painting...feckity feckity feck feck  :D

Right - repaint time  :)

At least it's only two thirds of the front half of each flag, so only a third in total.  Done in no time!

bummer about the flags Nik but the figures are excellent - I'm just a little pleased that the photos are not perfect for once - makes me feel just that bit better
about my poor efforts.

I was thinking of outside in good daylight next time - I assume it will stop the flash making everything look shiny and CSA blue trousers
looking like they should be on clowns!

I can't believe how many periods you are into!

They're OK, I suppose  ;) :D

LOL, I did exactly the same.
Don't buy your daughters a pony, buy them heroin instead, its cheaper and ultimately less addictive.

Probably quicker to list the ones I'm not into  ;) ;D

Looks great as usual Nik - talented git ;) :P :d

Bernie

Lovely looking figures. Chunky units to boot

There was an American website I found that reversed the colours on their Republican flags and this was the reason I did not buy. It is just one of those things

Well done and no one has said it but bases are great too!
