Hi

Has anyone painted tanks for the eastern front in a winter paint scheme. I quite fancy getting some german stuff for the eastern front late 42- early 43. Many units just slapped a basic white wash on their tanks so some would look a bit scruffy. Would the base just be panzer grey at this point then white painted over it. If anyone has any advice how it`s done.

Cheers

Erm, basically, that's it!

Dark Grey all over, highlight Fieldgrey. Dry brush white, carefully reapply splotches of fieldgrey where the crew would wear off whitewash, so edges, around hatches, engine and exhausts.
Good luck!

You can do both! Each unit was in charge of it's own camo, as long as your basing is consistent it really won't matter!

Hi

What is the best grey for panzers.

I was looking at the tamyia paints and saw german grey but is that for uniforms or vehicles.

I`m not that fussed on their paints (they smell like vodka to me which is a plus) but don`t like the finish.

fred.

Panzer Grey is a very dark grey, it is for tanks.

Field grey is a green with shades of grey, it's for uniforms.

I use Vallejo German Grey for tanks, though it possibly a bit dark for 10mm. I stopped using Tamiya as they dry do quickly you can't mix colours.

The quick drying is what makes Tamiya my undercoat of choice, XF1, the mattest blackest undercoat you'll ever find.

It wont matter what colour your army is, wave upon wave of my T34s will sweep it aside! :d Hope you like fighting loads of tanks and so many infantry you guns run dry! ;D
