Hello everybody, Pendraken is offering new (and better) miniatures each month but the flags offer is still weak. Do you plan to propose more flags and to increase their quality in the next years?

I think one thing that would be worth everyone's input, would be....
Do you prefer 'plain' flagpoles'....So you can add your own 'paper' flags....
Or.....Do you prefer already moulded metal flags ?

Remember that the poles themselves have to be on the 'thicker' side, so they can be cast properly !
(Plus the fact that if they were cast in a realistic thickness, they'd be so fragile on the table... assuming they survived the post before they reached you.)
Just my two pees worth.

Cheers - Phil.

As far a I know, Leon & Dave are heading away from cast on flags.

I think this was decided some time ago, Phil. The consensus of opinion was heavily in favour of bare poles.

We'd definitely like to add more flags to the range, but it's a case of finding someone with the time/ability to draw them up.  We've been working with someone to add some WSS/SYW flags, but beyond that, nothing's planned at the moment.

:(

On the cast flag/bare-pole front, the bare-pole has always been the preference in previous discussions, and that's what we're doing on any future ranges.

Thanks  Ray.
Haven't had to make any figures with flags myself, apart from the conversions folk have been getting me to do for the different uniforms/headgear.
Ahh !....So you were talking about the flags themselves....Sorry....Just ignore me.
Cheers - Phil.

To be honest I would prefer open handed colour bearers so I can use brass rod/ piano wire for the poles.

Duke Speedy of Leighton

That works until you look at the size of a 10mm hand, and you try to attach Imperial Eagles to the French (nightmare)!

Open hands are also a right pain in the bum to make...(says Mr Anything for an easy life)...So that the hand 'looks nice'/looks right.
Personally I'd chop out/chop off the original flagpole, then drill through the hand with a 0.7 or 0.5mm bit (using a pin vise) then insert the brass rod.
Yeah...OK..I know.....I'm used to doing that sort of thing and I have the relevant bits of kit to do it...
But I reckon the majority of you wouldn't find that too difficult to do as a start to converting models.
Lemmey's right about Putting on something like an Imperial Eagle though.....Now that IS fiddly.

If I ever get the time (Hah !)...I'll do a quick stage by stage 'montage' of photos, if that would help ?

Cheers - Phil.

Drilling is, as Techno said, not too difficult. Pole only is always the better option.

Flags are easy to make, I use Paint it is a basic programme that came with PC. I find making them large size and scaling down in Word the best way. I print them off, spray with matt varnish, leave to dry then paint with gloss let them dry then cut out and attach.

Find pics on the net and draw a copy, don't need to worry about been a bit rough as when shrunk to 10mm scale you can't tell.

I get most of my flags from the net, as free images, may need to crop (I used paintshop pro), and then put on a word file to re-size.
