Since I've recently gone into de-lurk mode I thought I would post a few pictures of a little army I started a while back that represents a GW 'War of the Ring army' ...but in 10mm.

However, since I prefer the Silmarillion over tLotR, I've attempted to give it a First Age theme, while sticking to the rules of the regular book (so the actual profiles that would be used are give in parentheses).

Angband Warband 1 (Orc Warband)

Angband Warband 2 (Orc Warband)

Spies of Angband (Grishnakh's Trackers)

Soldiers of Angband (Morannon Orcs)

Oops ...these are not pendraken minis ...so I've removed the photo

Wolf Riders (Warg Riders)

Trolls (Mordor Trolls)

...as it stands I think it's about 1500 points (though I've probably got enough mini's to make it twice the size), and the plan it to eventually have an opposing human/elf army for these to go up against (but who knows when I'll ever get that done  :-[ ).

Many apologies ...it's just dawned upon me that it's probably bad form to post a few images that are not from pendraken (I think the majority are ...but some definitely are not ...the trolls, armoured orcs, and vampire for example).

So, I've gone back and removed the offending images ...just to be sure (sorry about that).

Leon

Nice work, they've got a really 'grubby' look which suits them perfectly!   8)

No worries on the other photo's, there's a thread somewhere on here for things you've done from other companies.  I'll see if I can find it.

Thanks - if I had to do them again I'd probably make them less dark (as they do look kinda bland on the tabletop) ...but up close they don't look too bad (which is totally the wrong way around  #-o ).

...oh ...if it's possible to move this post over to there instead, that would be great! (...or simply delete this one and I'll start afresh in the correct place :) )

The figures look great but I also like your color choices for the basing,  They have the right tone and feel.  I keep thinkng about trying my hand at a few Fantasy packs but if I'm going to start anything new it has to be AWI.  I think,. lol

Great sutff thanks for sharing

These look really great!

My preference is for earlier Middle earth eras as well, but I've gone for early Third Age and put together Arnor and Angmar armies.

I keep thinking of doing it in 10mm, if only for the space saving. But seeing as, between myself and Just a few Orcs, we can field over 2000 28mm figures the amount of painting it would require puts me off.  :-\

Kris

Thanks for the comments guys ...glad you like 'em :)

Luddite

Lovely painting there and your base arrangements really set off the figures well.

You've made these look like a real warband of Angband.
