:) :) :)
I knew it.
When will you release first packs, and when could we see any photos of figures.

BTW
It would be great to know full list of items to be released. Even without detailed schedule.
It would help with planning our works.

No release dates yet.  Clib has sent us the dollies, which we have moulded up and will send back to him.  Then he will start on the master figures.

No dates and no lists; neither have been made up yet! But at the least everything in the current list will be replaced, and probably more added. Infantry will be the first release, cavalry dollies are still being worked upon.

A dolly is simply a partially sculpted figure, usually the body without arms. These are cast up and the sculptor then adds hats arms weapons etc . Without them I would not be able to put variant figures in my work, as it would take too long to sculpt figures from scratch each time. Also for weapons and hats its great to have standardisation across a range. Complex items like muskets and especially drums are a nightmare to do , so doing them only once is a plus!
Here's a pic of one of the first AWI packs, its easier to see the process at work as I was still using grennstuff back then;

Its a process that adds time and cost to a project, but I feel the results are worth it. I am sure I have tried Dave's patience in the past with fiddly little bits a pieces, and early on I had some hare-brained ideas; I sent him semi-shaped blobs of putty to cast, the idea being I could file the metal down to get stuff like swords. It did work but was so impractical it was abandoned swiftly. Dave was too polite not to humour me.

You can see this in lots of pre-release figures in various scale. I didn't realise this was possible until I saw the "workbench" section of the perries website.

maciek

Thanks.
Does it mean that, on the photo above, muskets were cast separately and are glued to the figures ?

On these particular figures the muskets and left arm were cast as part of the dollies, as they would all be in the same position, same goes for the marching figures. The firing figures, since they would need muskets in different poistions had the muskets added later.

Got the LoA dolly figures back from Pendraken today (that was quick!) and couldn't resist doing a couple of test figures. To be honest is was as much about avoiding the work I have currently since I am bored with it, as it was about the LoA!

Its a musketeer with apostels and a grenadier. Bear in mind these are only teasers, it will take a while to do a whole range, since there'll probably be about 4 variants per pack. These guys are totally complete yet eiither, for instance I might lengthen the grenadier's coat at the front.
Please forgive the crappy photographs; its late and I didn't have time to set up properly.

Excellent stuff, thanks for posting Clib!  I'll tell Dave to come and have a look tomorrow.

Here we have musketeer with apostles and grenadier.
And how about musketer with cartridge box ?
And cavalry ? Armoured, unarmoured, in hats or helmets ?

Plans aren't specific yet, but the types you mention will all be done. Cavalry will be a while away yet.

The only thing I dont like in these figures are buttons (buttonholes ?) on cuffs.
Why dont you make normal buttons ? Some would like to paint them.
