Life is too important to be taken seriously.

Fantastic! Surely anyone that good can carve anything out of anything?

'SCUSE ME !

'Carving' something is a completely different discipline to slapping on (Oops sorry...I mean carefully adding) layer upon layer of putty, to make exquisite little soldiers. ;)
Says someone who's not in the slightest bit jealous of this chap's skill.  :^o

They ARE quite extraordinary...
One other type of 'art' I'm in awe of, is the 'ball within a ball within a ball within a ball' that used to be carved out of solid lumps of ivory (I think)....with delicate patterns all over the place.
Those must have taken months, or more likely years to make...anyone remind me what those are called ?

Cheers - Phil.

So Phil, how exactly do you 'Sculpt' if it's not at all like 'Carving'?  ???
I will stand, or I will fall. But I will not sit.

Its an addative process, you add bits of putty on to a substructure, a wire skeleton for example. Carving from a block is subtractive; you chip bits away until you have the shape you want. I've never done the later but presumably its easier to balls up, if you chip too much.

That's what I reckon too Clibby ! If we make a balls up we can chop/cut bits off and redo things with relative ease...but the thought of nearly finishing off something like the Venus De Milo and then taking an arm or two off.....  ;) :D

Specially if it's a four-ton block of marble!  :'(

Green Stuff and Procreate are expensive enough...I know I couldn't afford a four ton block of marble... ;D ;D
Plenty of free Blue stone around here...Maybe I could have a go with that !
Nah !...The National Park would get into a right old strop if I started hammering away at one of the huge boulders here 'ont 'farm'. ;)
