I have purchased this fine gentleman
https://www.pendraken.co.uk/renaissance-english-civil-war-mounted-general-type-2-ec35

For my commanders, they are painted in "I know it's not historical blue" for the Royalist, or "I've made it clear I don't care for the actual uniform red" for Parliament.

I have 2 commanders to paint, one who is just sitting there, and this fine chap with the latest in military technology.

Should I paint him in BLUE for the King,  or RED for Parliament?
I have neither the time nor the crayons to explain why you are wrong.

Logically he should wear red (in your scheme). He is employing an excellent telescope clearly imported from the continent. As Parliament generally controlled the seas, their adherents would have the most likely access to such a quality item.

Royalist blue. William Gascoigne was a scientist and astronomer who devised a cross wire on the lens of telescopes to be used for measurements. Gazza met his demise fighting for the Royalist cause at Marston Moor.

I did the regular commissions board with a guy from Plymouth Poly. He described himself as an HND student. Then quietly mentioned 'has no degree'. Made me chuckle.

Alas I can vote for neither option. He should be buff!
Can bore for England on the subject of clothing issue during the Wars of the 3 Kingdoms. So probably best to avoid the subject. You have been warned.

By 8 votes to 3, he will fight for Parliament.

Sort of Democratic, I suppose... :o
