I didn't see an e'mail that Leon sent yesterday, around 6 PM, until 12 hours later !!
Apparently the poor chap has just discovered he's got a detached retina, and has got emergency surgery scheduled for this morning. 

At present that's literally all I know. (Apart from what I looked up on the NHS site about detached retinas....which didn't sound like much fun !!)

I'm very sorry to hear that and hope that the surgery goes successfully.

My brother suffered one quite a few years back and it was sorted at Moorfields; he made a full recovery, I'm sure yours will be just another routine procedure (although it doesn't seem like that at the time) and you'll be back to top condition in a couple of weeks.

May all go well, Leon. As Kitty says a few laser zaps usually does it. (Usually a gas bubble is placed in the eye to hold every thing in place while things heal. During that time you have to hold your head in a fixed position - so a fantastic opportunity to get a lot of rest).
