I base my 7YW on 25mm square with six figures each, for AWI I changed to 20mm with four figures.

Now I'm thinking does it really matter and should I base them all the same...heck I could even use the same 25mm basing approach upto the Franco Prussian Wars.

What are your thoughts/feedback?

I have mine on 25mm square bases now, which I find works fine for showing units in line, colukmn of march etc, plus it is a decent size to handle, without getting too fiddly. It also allows me to play some lower levels skirmsih type games too.

Fewer different types of basing is better

Rebasing is a pain - but for metal figures on MDF bases is not too painful

Whether you change your AWI is up to you, but I would choose one of 20mm or 25mm squares and stick with it for new projects within this era.

I was over prescriptive with WSS - I did 6 on 20mm! Sunjester, sensibly did 4.
I have neither the time nor the crayons to explain why you are wrong.

It depends upon your rules treatment of figures / bases / units.

Or your and your friends opponents to houserule amendments to your rules.

I generally like the look you get using 25mm squares; you can get 6 close order figures on them and 4 open order figures don't look lost on them.

That said, I've used 20mm squares for my ACW for 1st Edition FIRE & FURY and am pondering using them for AWI (which might be a project for this year if I can tidy up some existing projects to the point where I can actually game with them). I would be looking at using WAR IN THE COLONIES which were written a long while back by the late Steve Tulk of the NLWG (which I used to attend) and the same basing looks to work for BRITISH GRENADIER.
