Well now we are into 2026 I had a look back at my wargaming over 2025.

I did get quite a bit of gaming in, but not as much as I would have liked.  I have a monthly game with a couple of freinds at Sunjesters where we tend to play skirmish fantasy type games. Last year it was the War of the Worlds Martian campaign. Great fun and lots of laughs. It was not until the last few games we were strong enough to take on the smaller Martians.

At Club I tried out some different games. Blood Red Skies, Star Wars, and I have been trying to learn the REG set of rules. 
Blood Red Skies I enjoyed, but with most of the UASF and Luftwaffe being owened by other members I am not going to start buying models for this.
REG I quite enjoy although it has been slow to learn as quite a few of the games I have played thier have been other players who also are new to the rules and we seem tospend more time explaining than playing.
 
At home it has been Mainly Chain of Command with a few games of To The Strongest. The Wagames room (Mrs Orcs would call it the dining room, even though it spends 75% of the time with a wargames table up) has been well used as most of the Chain of command games are day games.

I thought I had painted quite a bit in 2025, but when I checked the Diary it was fairly poor. Nearly all of it was 20mm stuff for World War 2.

Totals were:-
13 vehicles
10 Guns
240 Japaneses.

Terrain was:-
5 Bamboo huts
4 feet of High walling.

The only non 20mm stuff was 3 28mm fantasy figures I have had on my tablefor 2 years in primer. I painted them as a break from the dull uniforms and vehicles of World War 2.

I think the reason for the lack of painting in 2025 was down to the fact that I lost my mojo, due to painting too many similar dull figures. I had just completed a lot of 14th Army 20mm figures and vehicles at the end of 2024. Going straight on to the Japanese to "finish the project" was probably a mistake. Had I had a break and done something more varied for at least a couple of months I might have had more enthusiasm with the Japs and finished them quicker.

I also had a lot family comitments with appointments and hospital visits, sometimes taking out several days in a week.

On the plus side I finally got a new shed sorted and most of the garden stuff moved out of the garage. This means I can sort garage out (Taking away from painting again), but will in the long term allow me to produce terrain on a faster and bigger scale, as well as allow a proper work bench.

Plans for 2026.

January
I have got my painting mojo back. I am going to try and finish the 20mm Japanese, I only have abouit 10 vehicles to finish, and they are interesting colour schemes. Hopefully I will finish these by the end of this month.
Put lots of Stuff on Ebay to clear out what I no longer use/want

February
This is going to be "Basing Month". I have a large number of painted figures waiting to be based. 15mm Italian wars and Achmanid Persians.
I also need to make up movement trays for several 6mm armies so I can use them for To the Strongest rules.
Base painted 20mm British Paras for Chain of Command 

March
If the weather warms up a bit the plan is to sort the Garage to allow me to make the Terrain for World War 2 Burma. If itys still cold I will swap plans with April.
Paint any additional figures for British Paras

April.
Having made the Burmma Terrain(Hopefuly) I am going to start painting a 10mm Partian army. I only need to initially do a few units to allow me to Morph other 10mm ancient armies.

May onwards.

I have no specific plans yet, but I would like to to do the following in the rest of the year. The list is in no specific order.

• Double the size of some of my 10mm WSS units so I can use them for REG. Probably about 240 figures)
• Paint my 10mm Macedoniams - I am still pondering sending them to Fernando Enterprises, or at least the 200+ pike.
• Paint some of the many Buildings I have 3d printed for Normandy.
• Paint US Platoon for Chain of Command

 In between these projects I intend to paint some old 28mm Chronopia figures and 15mm Italian wars units to break up the monotony of the big projects.

Gaming in 2026

I already have planned to return to one of the Chain of Command Pint Size campaigns that stalled when using version 1 of the rules. I think that Chain of Command 2 will have addressed some of the problems we found. Its then onto Campaigns in Burma using the new troops and terrain I will have made.

I also plan more of To the Strongest using both the 6mm and 10mm figures I already have and to produce some terrain to fit in the squares on the board.

I am also hoping to look into using Midguard  Rules for Italian Wars and Wars of the Roses.



 
 






 

I dont dare look up what I painted in 2025. Lots of stuff done in many scales. Only made 1 show - Phalanx. Overall hit most of my targets.

Orcs - good to have plans, and those are very detailed! 

What is REG, thought I knew then you mentioned WSS in relation to it.

Though if you like TtS then perhaps have a look at FKaP for WSS. Whilst aimed at ECW, a later supplement has been rumoured for a while

I reckon I got 50+ games in (going by what's recorded on the BBBBlog), so I averaged a game a week.

Happy to say that I have been blessed with quality of games as well as quantity: great friends to game with who write great scenarios, craft beautiful armies and terrain, and generally provide the High Quality Gaming Experience (TM). Long may it continue.

Given we haven't played a single game of FK&P yet, that may be a bit premature (mind you, considering the glacial speed at which TtS 2nd ed hasn't materialised, we may have grasped the rules before the WSS supplement appears).
I also repeat my question from your ACW thread, what's wrong with Black Powder and appropriate supplements?
