I'm retired. Each day I realise I'm not going to work and I'm not going to church ... so it must be Saturday.

So my week is

Saturday
Saturday
Saturday
Saturday
Saturday
Saturday
Saturday

I'm not bored! But I am much more content than I used to be.

For me every day is tomorrow, that is when I do things.

What's a weekend?

I have been retired 2.5 years and Have not been bored on a single day. In fact I get frustrated that I do not have time to do everything I want to.

I have to have a Tuesday.

That's pub quiz night.

Duke Speedy of Leighton

Wednesday is wargames.
Otherwise for the last year I've worked any five days in seven, so I never have any idea what day it is.

When I was but a bratling, a local canner ran a radio ad for tinned spaghetti and such horrors with the recurring tag "Thursday night is noodle night." I don't know if it boosted their sales, but it did  mean if you stretched out a hand and made inadvertent physical contact, you would be pointedly reminded that it wasn't Thursday, so leave his noodle alone....

Be more adventurous.  Remember our Roman ancestors had an eight-day week, our Germanic ancestors a nine-day week and the French Revolutionaries a ten-day week.

Last Hussar

Yeah, but the French tried a clock of 10, hours, subdivided inton100 minutes of 100 seconds.

365.25 (or more accurately 365.2425 days) is a bit of a pain to divide evenly.

10 days in a week, 10 weeks in a month, 10 months in a year.

Simple and logical.

Just ignore all the astromonical stuff that's going on around you...

Just retire, then the days of the week are irrelevant.

Good point Orcs.

In my recent experience however every day then becomes a work day, at least domestically speaking  :o  ;)

Or do as I do, nd work 5 days out of every 7. I have no idea what day it is!

Yes I agree Pierre, I have not had a day off since retiring.

So what are all these forumites complaining about? They at least get 2 days off out of every 7 we get none! ;)

By that metric I am working from home and self employed! :-)

I should probably explain the cirumstances behind my comment a little......I recently retired after a lengthly period as a public servant after Mrs Shy found a job she really wanted.

We still have our later teenaged twins at home, one of who has special needs and requires a fair amount of assistance on a daily basis.

It's taken a fair bit of adjustment but our household seems to run fairly well overall, with good and bad days like everyone else.

Because after 5 days serving His Majesty, I have to squeeze into two days everything you get seven to do.
