Good morning at this ungodly Derbyshire hour.

Whilst I normally worship at the temple of 15, I am strangely attracted to doing samurais at 10mm. Know diddly squat about samurais, other than I really like the Castle Arts range of buildings.

I know a little bit about the Wars of the 3 Kingdoms, so expect my 2p's worth occasionally. I am responsible for the abomination that is KeepYourPowderDry, and one of the people responsible for the return of the BCW Project and Wiki.

Expect samurai questions at a more sensible hour, when I have worked out what I wish to ask.

Good morning, and welcome to the madhouse. ;)
I'll do this later

You know enough to know it involved three Kingdoms =D>  =D>  =D>

My thanks for your part in the return of the incredibly useful BCW Project and Wiki =D>  =D>  =D>  =D>  =D>

My Cheriton project owes much to the original BCW Project and Wiki. I'm sure I will be making use of it again now it has returned

I know others appreciate the return as well

Welcome Radar/KYPD

Firstly thanks for your work with saving the BCW and the Regimental wiki....you have probably seen the Celtic Fringe rules and the Montrose and Irish scenario books that three of us who are regulars on this forum have produced. We have found it a very useful source of information about W3K matters.

Afraid my knowledge on 10mm Samurai is minimal, but if you have a question about them there are plenty of people here who can help, apart from on the question of how to stick back banners to the figure rather than to anything else  :-\  :)  There never seems to be a satisfactory answer to that one.

Anyway, welcome. it's really not that much of a madhouse.....

Welcome Radar,
QuoteThis forum is inhabited by the the odd and the very odd; but there is a great depth of knowledge and a willingness to help.
I will only add to the comment above, that FSN has omitted the inhabitants of this forum who are "Extreemly odd"

I know next to nothing about samaurai warfare apart from the statements below, which may not be strictly correct

1 Samaurai were the ruling Lords
2 Honour was the most highly prized value
3 During one of the periods they wore back banners
4 A samaurai army looks very impressive when on the wargames table

So you can see that I will be of absolutely no use in answering any of your questions.  :) . I will however use the answers from others more knowledgeable on this subject to improve my knowledge.

If however you have questions about the Italian Wars or World War 2 I will have more chance of being useful.

Hi

Welcome.

Now, that is a down right fib!  ;)

Follow your blog every week.

To Japanese add: the samurai was not the distinctive Sengoku warrior, any more than the cuirassier was the most common ECW type (cat among the budgies).

Which said, welcome aboard. You seem to have a taste for two of the best pike-and-shot theatres.

Thank you all for the warm welcome.

Good to hear that regular readership of KeepYourPowderDry may well have swelled to 21! Does that make me a influencer, as the kids would say.

Thank you all for the answers to the questions that I haven't thought of yet. Much appreciated.

Apologies for brief response, currently pretending to be intelligent and sociable at work.

Yōkoso!

I am far from an expert but I am fascinated by the Sengoku Jidai so I will be interested in your progress.

Don't tell Leon but I've opted to do my Samurai and Ashigaru in 3mm rather than 10mm. Had they been available at the time I'd have gone 10mm instead.

As to the information given by Orcs

1 Samurai were the ruling Lords
The ruling lords were indeed samurai but they were known as Daimyo.

2 Honour was the most highly prized value
Honour was important but samurai were expected to be civilised, cultured and also excellent warriors.

3 During one of the periods they wore back banners
We have no real idea who wore back banners, when exactly they wore them and what the back banners' designs were exactly. Rule of cool may be exercised here, with a certain amount of discretion.

4 A samurai army looks very impressive when on the wargames table

Indeed.

The forumites are very keen on pictures. Don't be afraid to show off what you paint. It may be critiqued but will very rarely be criticised.
