Great report.
I can see hints of a certain Nobby and Colon?

Looks interesting. I can definitely see people building "guard bands" (??) inspired by Carrot, Angua, Detritus and Cheery Littlebottom.

Right, looked into this more closely.

Cards. Lots of cards. Hmmm .... not a good start.

"Special" dice. Oh no. Definitely not.

On the plus side, the starter box looks good value for £60. 36 figures, rulebook, cards, tokens and dice. Appears to be sold out everywhere, so that's looking good for the success of the game.

Briefly watched a demo game on youtube. Looks more like a market day simulator than a wargame?

Not for me, but I hope anyone who plays find it fun.

Glad to see that 70s TV shows continue to provide inspiration (??) for naming of characters. Although it did become a rather surreal read at some points with children's TV cast chasing down ner'do wells.

As with other write ups of Guards of Traitors Toll I've read, the guards do seem to have trouble when it comes to combat against the villains. Is this because they are all starter guards so a bit rubbish. Or are they just a bit rubbish full stop?

Seems a fun game, but doesn't feel like a wargame, but it is very much adjacent to skirmish games, and likely does overlap with many skirmish games.

I'm sure Techno will correct me (it's more his era ;D ), but I believe you will find here are in fact 1950s TV shows! ;)

From just one game I would combat seems to involve a lot of luck. For example: for Pandy to subdue his target I rolled 3 dice and scored a critical hit, and it the fight Andy hit and scored at least a wound in both rounds of combat. Whereas, in the last round of the fight, Ben rolled 6 dice (3 plus bonuses for 2 friends helping and target wounded) and missed completely!
