I try to be faithful to the Dark Lord. He is benevolent and magnificent, and he is impervious to the ravages of time. However, in his glory, he does, occassionally, very, very rarely have tiny, almost insubstantial gaps in his oeuvre.*

One such is the provision of caissons for the French and allied forces of the Napoleonic Wars. Being someone who has a penchant for such things, I have regrettably strayed from the Dark Lord's path. I have been using the offering from Lancer Miniatures. As I am in need of more such vehcles, I visited Lancer's site and saw "In September 25 I will be hanging up my metal casting boots for the final time and switching the hot metal off, for 90% of our metal products."

Obviously, the best thing would be for Pendraken to offer an alternative, but I think I'll be laying in some stock.

I will confess to owning quite a few Lancer 10mm ECW Scots Covenanter infantry and light artillery (I wanted musketeers without firing rests).

Looks like thier 10mm ECW range is already out of production, so further temptation is not an issue O:-)

The company is not closing down completely but choosing to only produce larger scale (28mm) resin 3D printed figures by the look of it....a trend for the future in wargaming in general purhaps?  :-\

I have quite a few of their light artillery for the Scots. A couple of their frame guns made their way to the Ottoman army.

It's a shame to hear that the range is shutting down. I purchase a good amount of the Lancer 10mm ECW years ago on Kickstarter and acquired many more heavily discounted on an online marketplace place.

They are nice sculpts, paint up well. The ankles are prone to breakage and the bodies a sre slightly two-dimensional.

I painted a few units and sold the rest off.

I am also a Heretic.  I like variety in my units. So although most are from the one true provider, there are Lancer (and others) figures in my ECW armies.

I have used Lancer quite a lot, he makes lovely 20mm Early World War 2 British and Germans. Fortunately I have  completed my 20mm Early war forces. ( Can't believe I typed that out loud  :o ) As I have two Chain of Command Platoons and supports for each side.

Before you all make smart comments, I would like to clarify the use of the word completed.  In this instance I am using the correct Wargamers Definition

Completed - Meaning. I have finished collecting and painting models for this particular force and set of rules. Until any of the following occur

1, Someone brings out some "really nice" figures that are better than the ones I own.
2, I find a scenario where I need more forces than I currently have.
3, I see some really cheap in a Bring and buy or on Ebay
4, I change the ruleset I use for this particular period , or another version comes out where I need more figures
5, I decide that I really do need another nationalities army for this period ( in the above example Dutch )
6, I go on Early war Miniatures Website late at night after a few beers and decide that a Dutch Platoon is a bit different and I really need them.

Having written this post I did go on the EWM site and look at WW2 Dutch :)

I was looking at those and EWM to use for Chain of Command, I had been tempted to collect 20mm forces to recreate the battle scenes of the Danish movie April 9.

I think his British and German Blitzkrieg figures are excellent, as are his Normandy commandoes, although they are in fighting kit with no back packs. They fit with EWM nicely.

I would get them while he is still manufacturing

Great news. Was thinking about ordering from Lancer, but now I'll wait. As I'm now getting stuck into my 1809 Austrians - any chance of an Austrian Caisson?
