All,

As promised, here are my mid to late war German paratroopers for the Eastern Front and Northwest Europe.  These guys are all from Warlord Games, a rifle platoon made up of plastic multi-pose figures rounded out with some crew serves and specialists from their metal range.  Nothing really to add in my commentary since I just covered the subject; it's the same guys, just painted differently! ;)

Right out the gate we've got a leader-type with 'piss-cutter' hat, pointing into the distance.  Can anyone tell me what that is on his right front chest (compass, flashlight?)?

Charging ahead with MP-40 blazing.

Two riflemen racking fresh rounds into the chambers of their K98s.

A riflemen kneeling with FG-42 and a trooper moving up with hand grenade in his right hand and a satchel charge in his left.

The MG-42 team with gun on tripod.

And the 80mm mortar team.

So, whaddaya think?  I'm very happy with how they turned out.  I'd like to have some more troops for the rifle platoon (this one and the Med force), so I've been thinking about buying another box of the plastic FJ, but... I'm not going to do that because I promised I would stop painting and start playing games ;)

Getting closer, but still more forces to photo and post and still more troops to finish painting.

Top work Jack.
Think it's a compass on the officer.

Good stuff Jack - very keen to do the same figures in two paint schemes!

Did some googling and not certain, but still leaning towards a torch

The compass has similarities but the round bit of the compass is on a square base that is only slightly larger than the round part. And is probably quite a bit smaller.

Thanks guys, and thanks for the photo, Fred.  I'll look into it some more, see about the real life dimensions of each.
