Anyone play it with Pendraken figures? Fred mentioned it and I was wondering since I'll have a load left over when I put my Drums and Shakos forces together whether to give it a go.

My other options would be French and Indians war or ACW

Hoping others can show off their work, can't decide how to base the figures since the game requires figure removal

The skirmish units are 6 minus, so I'm thinking 3,2,1 would work but line are 8 per unit, I prefer round bases but can't find trays that fit

Single basing with sabots to accomodate 4-6 figures should work well. Only used 28's for the system and it has been some time but there were no problems with movement. Exact move distance is only needed for 1 figure from memory which makes it easier.

There are two approaches depending on your budget and table size.

Keep the figure count with a smaller measurement unit.
A bit fiddly for some, and arrangements like 3-2-1, 3-2-2-1 (3-3-1-1) and 3-3-2-1-1 don't suit everybody.

Stick with the original scale, but stick 2 or 3 little men on each base.
You're then playing with formations "one up" from those intended.
There's scope for some creative layout of your 2 or 3 10mm men on their bases.

I plan to try the 1,2,3 approach for skirmish troops but was hoping for multiples of 4 for the regulars, I wanted 15mm round bases as aminimum but might need to look at square bases instead asI can't find sabbots that will fit the round bases I have been using

Try Warbases - do a range of sabots lots sized for pennies.

fred.

I went with round bases, and 3, 2, 1 for 6 figure units and 3, 2, 2, 1 for 8 figure units.

You can swap out stands to account for different number of casualties. Works great.

I went with individually based for line and 3-2-1 for skirmishers.

For the line I magnetised the bases and made "invisible" movement trays by cutting strips of ferrous paper to size and using them.

I have a plan for the bases

Also picking up a couple of packs of newline minis, think the rest will be pendraken

The newlines are OK but there is very little face detail, don't get me wrong I'm not expecting more than cheeks, chins and noses but these aren't great

Had SP for years, but never played it - Have been edging towards the 25mm I have from years ago, but now thinking 10mm...*

How many "Regular line" figures do you need a side? Add to that the 'Big Men' or whatever Rich has called them in this.

*A few months ago I had a conversation with Sunjester along the lines of 'I don't see myself buying any new armies, maybe just rounding out what I have...'
I have neither the time nor the crayons to explain why you are wrong.

Skirmish troops are 6 per unit

Regulars are sections of 8

And your big men are individuals, need to be identifiable.
Officer figures, Sergeants doing sergeant things (waving arms about or pointing in 10mm).

I'f you're doing a 3:1 variant on 28mm scale bases, command groups work well here.
