QuotePernod, horribly drunk first night at uni  :-&

Seconded.  I went to a daytime party out of town and can remember being the only one on the stuff then I woke up in bed in my digs and was not very well at all for three days. Initial attempts to rehydrate just got me drunk again.

Pretty much teetotal these days except for occasions like birthdays, Christmas, arrival of pendraken parcels...

Quote from: hammurabi70 on 19 July 2023, 10:30:30 AMNot drunk but ill.  First time at a party* in the USA I looked for something light to drink and settled on Budweiser**, which everyone agreed was a light, easy to drink beer.  After two bottles of this soda-pop beer my stomach was revolting and I felt very ill; I have avoided it ever since and have no idea why it is (or was) such a popular beer in America.

* Fourth of July; I had arrived that week (on business).
** I can recommend the Czech Budweiser, a very different and most pleasant beer that I enjoyed when visiting Prague.

Its better than the so called "Amber Nectar", Fosters is truley horrible :-&

QuoteVodka !

Drunk half a bottle in about half an hour, and thought there's nothing to this drinking lark at all.
How do people get so smashed ?

Then the room jumped at me.....and I fell off a chair.

I was really ill for three days. :-&

Aged around 17 I took a bottle of vodka to a party and, around finishing time, it was still unopened. So, to ensure I "got my moneys worth", I filled a tumbler and drank it down in one...
Major mistake. I started to feel unwell only a matter of seconds later. I quickly went outside to the top of the steep drive (where the host of the party had parked his VW Beetle facing up the drive). I stumbled on to the bonnet of the car and then started to vomit... Pretty much "pure vodka" I suspect. Of course, the VWBeetle has a rounded bonnet, so the vodka/vomit mix merely spewed onto the car bonnet and then ran down, onto my pukeing body...
I had 3 solid days of "hangover" and it was over a week before I started to feel back to normal.
Never again 🤮🤢
These days I barely drink - two or three pints of lager a year, if that. Rather than waste £££ on alcohol or drugs if invest it wisely in little toy soldiers, books, magazines and comics.

Grappa.

I was living in Germany at the time, working at a University in a department with lots of other non-German Scientists, so we'd all go out en masse after work. One time, a newly arrived Italian colleague discovered that the owner of the Italian restaurant in town was from the next valley over in the Tyrol, and we ended up with a bottle of his family's own Grappa on the table, of which I had about half, then staggered home. Spent the next day oozing alcohol from every pore, and the smell still makes me a bit queasy.

Been a long while, but Sloe Gin. Which, among other things, looks rather alarming when vomited up.
