After its launch at Salute this past weekend, our new Korean War supplement is now available!

The Forgotten War is a supplement for the popular Blitzkrieg Commander IV wargames rules, focussing on the Korean War from 1950-1953.

Written by Mark Fry and Rob Anderson, The Forgotten War contains 8 new army lists as well as 6 historical scenarios complete with maps.  New rules include Line Commanders (for Wave Attacks), Street Barricades, Static Smoke Dischargers and Medical Bases.

This 52-page supplement is available in hard copy through our website here: https://www.pendraken.co.uk/nbkc-for-nthe-forgotten-war---korean-war-supplement-9983-p.asp or as a PDF through Wargame Vault here: https://www.wargamevault.com/product/435230/The-Forgotten-War

"The Korean War was a ruthless struggle between two opposing ideologies, conveniently mirroring the bigger world picture of Western democracy versus Eastern communism. North Korea was backed by the Soviet Union and Communist China, with the former investing cash and the latter, men, arms and materiels. The Republic of Korea was backed by the USA and subsequently by the United Nations, with the vast majority of the foreign forces involved being American.

This was the first of the larger post World War II conflicts but much of the military tactics and technologies deployed came directly from the previous world war. Whilst there were rapid advances in aircraft technology, this had very little impact on the war on the ground, and with the harsh and mountainous terrain that dominates the Korean Peninsula, major mechanised warfare was also not practical. Therefore, this was primarily a war fought by the infantry from both sides, often in atrocious conditions.

The armed conflict was suspended, in stalemate, on the 27th July 1953, when an armistice was signed by the US, UN, China and North Korea, but this has never been ratified by the South and a fractious divide remains between North and South Korea along the 38th parallel to this day. North Korea remains a pariah state, cut off from most of the rest of the world, isolated, secretive and still in the grip of a military dictatorship that continues to harbour designs on a unified communist Korean peninsula."

Ordered.  I like the idea of the historical scenarios.  Are you going to do a Korean War range?

Just reading through the new supplement. Looks great! Can someone please clarify the cm and mm in the static smoke generation section? Excellent idea that could be useful for some of the Soviet smoke generators from the Cold War. Just seems some of the distances are cm and some mm which don't seem correct.

Cheers

Hi Richard - I have responded to your original post.

The errors are on Page 6 in the SMOKE GENERATOR EXAMPLES section.
The sizes of the screens should be in CM (not MM) - so Paragraph 1 should read:
... We place a 40x20cm marker on the south east corner ... and last sentence should read ... so we add subsequent 20x20cm smoke markers for each of these turns.

Well spotted - thanks
Mark
