Leon

Good to see you today Norm and glad you had a good day.  That new lighting was a definite improvement!

I think sales were really good from most of the traders I spoke to, and the club reported a record 550 through the door, so all good I think.  Some of the shows have been very hit-and-miss since Covid so it was nice to see this one hitting a high.  The club members are always friendly and really helpful as well.

Was good to manage to get there. Went with my daughter who I think now understands me a bit better.

Nice to meet Leon again, and for the first time Adele. Couldn't stay long but it seemed pretty busy.

Off to read the report now Norm and glad to hear it was a well attended show, given all the financial challenges we face at present.

I wuz na 'appy, Leon didna have the dark age army I wanted !! Overall a good show but decidedly lacking in 15mm moderns.  Managed to get several things including 9 ships in a file box for a £5. Also meet a few people not seen for a while.

PS - I think Leon is still talking to me, just about....

Well, we've noticed a decline in 15mm in all eras at recent shows, which is for the greater good as we all adopt the one true scale of 10mm.

It was good to get to a show again, although most of my money went on paints as the painting service is taking off again.

I enjoyed the report Norm, so thanks for sharing this :) . Nice to see the show doing well, but the general preponderance of 28mm games is not something which attracts me now. I would like to go to the Joy of Six show, which is much more my sort of thing these days, but aside from having a prior arrangement that day, the cost of getting there is simply prohibitive for me now with the cost of petrol. If it carrys on like this, I might even have to miss Colours, which I'd hate as it is my 'local' show and one I generally enjoy :( .

Indeed Mr J. My daughter was surprised how I breezed past so many stands because they were offering the wrong scale.

Wasn't able to get to Phalanx this year as I had a prior commitment of the two-wheeled kind. But sounds like it was a good show - and with new lights as well!!

Great report Norm - good to see a lively show-scene reappearing again.

Partizan was also dominated by the 28mm games - lovely to behold - and it was nice to see some even bigger scale games (a 54mm scale game was probably the biggest) but you've got to be truly dedicated to a project like that for many months/years in advance. Looking at your photos, I recognised a few re-cycled games from Partizan, but I suspect that if you put that much effort in, you'd want to get more than one show's worth out of it.

I only got to buy a few Pendraken goodies at Partizan, as I was on the stand most of the day, promoting CWC-II, so didn't get the chance to go around the show and do any scouting or impulse buying. Which is not a bad thing, as I really must start to reduce my lead pile ahead of retiring at the end of this year.

Phalanx is a bit far for me to go for a 1 day event (from Bristol) but you have inspired me to think about drafting a report on my next show - 'Attack' at Devizes in July - although I am competing in a 28mm Dark Ages competition - so my show-time will be limited.

Again, thanks Norm
