Hi guys, my name is Greg and I live at Wigan. I have just bought BKC IV and would like to be able to see a game being played or at least be shown the ropes over a tabletop somewhere local, if at all possible. I'm 69 years young but don't consider myself old and doddery as yet. I've too many years experience as a wargamer and board gamer and have recently been playing O Group, CoC, and - Heroes of Normandie!!
Is there anybody out there who may be able to help, please?

Hi Greg, welcome to the forum.

I've found the folks here welcoming, supportive, knowledgeable and eager to share their knowledge and expertise.

That said, thread derailment is a regular occurrence and some posts can be very weird.

As one about to be 69 in a few weeks time I concur that this is not an age at which we are old and doddery, we are finely matured, like fine wines or vintage cheeses. Or to put it another way we are frequently drunk and often smelly! :D :D :D

See what I mean about weird!

Can't help with tabletop experience of BKC as I'm up in Edinburgh but it's a system I really like and hope you come to have as much fun with it as I have.

Ooh! Heroes of Normandie, haven't played that since the years BCE (Before the Covid Era). Another game I like.

69 .... BKC .... HoN .... are you sure you aren't me? :)

Hi Greg, welcome to the Forum!  We've got a bunch of customers over that way, at the St Helens club and also over near Liverpool so I'm sure there's someone who can help.  I'm not sure which of them are playing BKC though, so I'll wait and see who comes along to this thread.

Hi Greg, on the 18th, the Phalanx wargame show is on (St.Helens), local clubs will be there with their games and the St. Helens club will be running the show, so a good opportunity for you to explore when / where you might see a game.

There are some good battle reports here on the forum, notably by Steve J.

Hi Greg

Welcome on board!

I'm not a million miles away from Wigan, and have been known to play BKC! But I'm pretty busy over the next 6 weeks or so - Norm's suggestion of Phlanax is a good shout as its only just over a week away.

Hi Greg

Do you have a pc that can run Steam, Tabletop Simulator (TTS) and Discord?

If so then I'm sure we could arrange a game for you

We've been doing lots of video based gaming - so over Google Meet or Zoom etc - with the host having the figures on the table and the player(s) remote. Gives more of the feel of a table top game, than a computer game with manual rules.
