Will Mark be doing some example lists to accompany the launch, please? Maybe a British, US and Warsaw Pact armoured list?

Leon

The rulebook will contain US and Soviet lists (and potentially Brits depending on page count), so no worries there.

But Pendraken don't - yet - sell the models. At least not from ~1970s onwards.

US and West German, then French, then fill in the minor NATO powers from there ;)

The current plan is to only have UK, Soviet and US example lists in the main printed rules book.

All the others - and there are a lot of them as we are breaking down the single CWC1 NATO list into its component countries and adding a lot of 'new' lists as well - will appear in an online version.

There will also be a number of Optional Rules (as we have with BKCIV) - so please look at these once the rules are published before you howl that I've missed out your favoured special munition etc. (for example)  :D

We are aware that this approach will be popular with some and unpopular with others, but it is a practical way forward (as trying to please all the players, all the time is the route to madness!). However, what it does means is that we can more easily correct any errata, we can add in any omitted vehicle or weapon system and can create additional specialist lists in future (if you fancy playing out the 1962 Sino-Indian boarder conflict ... for example).

As requested on another thread I will attempt to provide (on this forum) an overview of all the major rules changes. This is actually a major task and as the author it is actually quite hard to do in detail, as I will often 'tweak' wording to make it clearer or to correct minor anomalies as I go along. It is also something I have seen done very successfully on other sets of rules by on-line forum members as a group. Which might be something we can consider (setting up a specific thread).

However, as a taster what I can say now is that the following areas have had some significant alterations/additions:

1). Command
2). Reconnaissance
3). Anti-Tank
4). Anti-Air
5). Helicopters

Optional rules for: Weather; Electronic Warfare (don't get too excited about this folks); Urban Conflict (this is a significantly large section - including Barrel Bombs and IEDs); Advanced Communications and a Civilians and Refugees optional rules mechanism will be available, amongst others.
For those of you that already play BKCIV - some of these will look very familiar, in keeping with the approach I am taking of trying to retain successful core mechanisms across all 3 of the current Commander rules sets.

Our intention is to also produce a PDF showing how to convert an Order of Battle (OOB) to a practical table-top force. This will not be available immediately on launch, as we are struggling with sourcing high enough resolution/quality photos - but it will happen.

Likewise, I am hoping to produce a 'Modern' warfare optional rules upgrade in the near future - to include things such as Drones etc. But again, that is still very much a work in progress and will probably always be so - with updates and additions as time passes.

As with BKCIV the draft rules and sample army lists were sent out to a raft of existing players, across a number of countries for feedback, comment and errata checking. The new mechanism and scenarios have also been play tested and that playtesting is continuing (there was even another test game played last night).
However, there will be issues that we have not spotted and we will ask you all to be kind and put these into an Post-Launch Errata thread for us to review.

As a final thought/reminder - this set of rules is fundamentally designed to cover the Cold War era - so that is from 1946 to c.1989/1990. However the lists (in particular) will cover just some weapons and vehicle types that can extend beyond this period. I only raise this to manage expectations and avoid any potential disappointment for some :)

Many thanks
Mark

Which add-on army lists will be available at CWCII launch, or be the first after the launch?

As many as possible really.  Mark's working on the Soviet VDV, the Bundeswehr and East German lists at the moment.  We've also got most of the CWC1 lists converted over for CWC2 so it's just a case of checking them and then formatting them for launch.

Just a note: The  Indian list should  have 20pdr armed Centurions for 1965

One of the great advantages of having all the list on-line* is that we can create a much more agile approach to picking up errata, missing units, incorrect stats etc.
(*even the 3 example in-book lists will also have on-line versions).

I will set up a specific and on-going List Errata thread in the CWC section after CWC_II launch and things like the Indian 20pdr can be picked up in that. What would be hugely helpful would be to try and contain the discussion on that thread purely to Army List errata - so that I can focus on that. Also, if something is missing and it was not in CWC-II - please help me out with some suggested stats - my knowledge is good but I wont know everything!

Also I would ask is that you be patient with me (please) as it is a major task transferring the old CWC lists to the new CWC-II format, especially adding all the new AP stats and a lot of new weapon types.
This will take some time, and I will also publish a release schedule to manage expectations.
We have almost as many 'new' lists in the pipeline as there were 'old' lists in the CWC-II book, so it is a not inconsiderable task. But I'll get there.

NB: If you already have a copy of CWC-I (& I am not sure if there are any left in-stock Leon?) the 'old' lists will work just as well for now, to tide you over. It will be the AP stats that are the only significant thing missing.

I've just spent today converting the French and the Arab-States lists ... 2 lists a day is my current production rate what with working full-time on my day-job :)

Many thanks
