Orcs

Quote from: Last Hussar on 24 March 2022, 09:21:22 PMDuring a game I advised Orcs "if you roll a 1, the gun blows up, and kills the crew".

In the style of Churchill or Napoleon he merely said "I don't intend to roll a one."

I will leave the result of the roll to the reader's imagination.

It was a great cause of merriment though  :D
The cynics are right nine times out of ten. -Mencken, H. L.

Life is not a matter of holding good cards, but of playing a poor hand well. - Robert Louis Stevenson

Did you at least pause briefly before rolling to give the crew a chance to run for it :'(

Quote from: steve_holmes_11 on 10 March 2022, 11:20:10 AMVictory is assured unless I roll a  double one. - Me.

But a double 1 on a Command Roll in BKC/CWC/FWC is a Command Bonus Steve ... so there are some silver linings in wargames rules after all  ;)

I have a long-standing wargaming associate (I think that is the proper terminology) who regularly states with glee "don't roll a 1" & each time he says it I suspect he doesn't know just how close he comes to a cruel and gruesome death ... from not only me, but everybody else he plays with  >:(

But, of course, he is totally oblivious to the same tactic being used on him back  :'(

Am I just too sensitive a soul to be playing games with dice???

I am very fond of the quote by Xenophon (amended)

'He could have lived a risk-free, moneyed life, but he preferred to whittle away his fortune on warfaregaming.'

How do you make a small fortune out of wargaming?

Start with a large one . . .
