Does anybody else interested in 19th Century Military History remember Napoleon's famous quote

"Don't start a land war in eastern Europe, because the farmers will nick all your artillery"?  :-\

But I am for some unaccountable reason reminded of "I have no further territorial claims to make in Europe."

And, watching footage of Boris, our beloved PM, today I had the bizarre thought,"Peas in our time!"

I thought "Peas in our time"  was a John Major quote. I think I picked it up from Spitting Image?

A gentle reminder that the great idiot said "Peace for our time", quoting Disraeli, and "peace IN our time" is a religious, not military, quotation.

No I didnt. 
And as for Chamberlain, have a watch of the film Munich.  It plays it there as an attempt to buy more time to re-arm as the threat had not been fully recognised and defence spending cut.   
And there has long been a quote that  signing the paper was the worst mistake Hitler thought he had made pre-war. 
I know not what is truth.  Just saying.

Going up to University aged 18, I saw my first ancients game; until then it had been Airfix WWII.  Sassanian cataphracts charged Byzantine Trapezites.  To the horror of the Byzantine commander the light cavalry dice roll to evade resulted in a counter-charge.  The combat dice went 6-1 in favour of the light cavalry, who rode down the cataphracts!  Quite an introduction to the ancient period.

During a game I advised Orcs "if you roll a 1, the gun blows up, and kills the crew".

In the style of Churchill or Napoleon he merely said "I don't intend to roll a one."

I will leave the result of the roll to the reader's imagination.
