Quote from: sultanbev on 19 February 2022, 01:12:44 PMI have worked out I can actually get from Burnley to Middlsebrough on the train without too much hassle, but not sure how far the train station is from Pendraken Towers.

3500 books? That's more than I've got, you might actually have something I want!  :)

There's quite a few duplicates in there I think, as this was all stock from a book seller on eBay.  We need to organise the stock in the out-building and then we'll see what we've got exactly.  There's definitely some interesting stuff here as the guy wasn't buying from the usual sources.  There's stock from a publisher in the States, as well as some really niche stuff that was translated and published in India.

Translated and published in India, you say?

I'll add this this might be one of those situations where:
IF you can get them all shelved up and illuminated.
A Hi Res photo of the spines might be an excellent starter for ten.

Maybe worth a try if it saves 16 hours of typing.

If you have a barcode scanner then an ISBN search (lots of such services online) might be the way to go?

Seems likely that there may be a phone app that would do it, been a couple of decades since I worked in Libraries and technology has undoubtedly moved on.

Yep, there are phone apps that can do this - probably a good way to start - but if you have some more obscure stuff, it may well not have ISBNs.

The hi res photo is a good idea - people love to search for stuff!

Older stuff won't have the barcode. Everything published in the UK should have an ISBN.

Luckily the whole lot came with a spreadsheet of what's here, we just need to confirm that everything is present and correct really.

Spreadsheets are helpful.

There's a rare time in your life when you want to read a spread sheet. This would be one of those moments......

With the shop opening imminent, it's probably about time I updated this thread with some new pics!

We've got 2 game tables in the shop, made of white storage units with an MDF top and bottom, plus castor wheels.  The tops are 4x6ft and we can attach multiple tables together to give a larger game space.  We had the 3rd generation of Pendraken helping us with these as well...!

The patio doors at the back of the shop have been replaced with a low threshold set to allow for wheelchair access into the shop.  We've put a nice chequerplate on the internal side as well so that the carpet doesn't get scuffed up with the stock going in/out of the shop.

Outside we've had our new signage arrive so we spent a long afternoon putting 66 pop rivets in...

The shop signage arrived a few weeks back so we've now got header boards for all of the stock racks, plus a really nice image/sign for the front of the counter.

This week we've made a new stock rack to take some of the smaller products (dice, animals).

And after a long shift tonight we're almost there!  Just a few more books to get onto shelves tomorrow, then a load of signs/price labels to put out, and we should be just about ready for opening!
