For older movies you really have to keep the person in the movie if you aren't going to recast

There's a tradition in "reboots" to cast a key actor in a cameo.

So I'd suggest recasting the star if the film is fairly old.

Where the star has deceased, we introduce the interesting challenge of identifying a stand-in.
