Summer, Buddy Holly, the working folly
Good golly, Miss Molly and boats
Hammersmith Palais, the Bolshoi Ballet
Jump back in the alley and nanny goats
Eighteen wheeler Scammells, Dominica camels
All other mammals plus equal votes
Seeing Piccadilly, Fanny Smith and Willie
Being rather silly and porridge oats
A bit of grin and bear it, a bit of come and share it
You're welcome we can spare it, yellow socks
Too short to be haughty, too nutty to be naughty
Going on forty no electric shocks
The juice of a carrot, the smile of a parrot
A little drop of claret, anything that rocks
Elvis and Scotty, the days when I ain't spotty
Sitting on a potty, curing smallpox
Health service glasses, gigolos and brasses
Round or skinny bottoms
Take your mum to Paris, lighting up a chalice
Wee Willie Harris
Bantu Steven Biko, listening to Rico
Harpo Groucho Chico
Cheddar cheese and pickle, a Vincent motorsickle
Slap and tickle
Woody Allen, Dali, Domitrie and Pascale
Balla, balla, balla and Volare
Something nice to study, phoning up a buddy
Being in my nuddy
Saying okey-dokey, sing-a-long a Smokie
Coming out of chokie
John Coltrane's soprano, Adie Celentano
Beuno Colino
Woody Allan, Dali, Domitrie and Pascale
Balla, balla, balla and Volare
Something nice to study, phoning up a buddy

Well, Will, what can one say in response .... except:

"Sex and drugs* and rock and roll
Is all my brain and body need
Sex and drugs* and rock and roll
Are very good indeed"

:) :) :) :)

We didn't get Fried in the 80s.
We didn't get Fried in the 90s, the noughties or the teens.
We aint't got Fried in the 20s yet... just WIP.

Pack up your troubles in your old kit-bag
And smile, smile, smile,
While you've a lucifer to light your fag,
Smile, boys, that's the style.
What's the use of worrying?
It never was worth while
So pack up your troubles in your old kit-bag
And smile, smile, smile.

Agreed, the winter solstice is the best December day for me, when I can start looking forward to the lighter nights coming in again.

Yep, good to know that the days are slowly getter longer now :) . I just wish there was more sunshine at present!

It's not dark and light that I care about it's cold and warm (I'm in Scotland where the weather is so rarely hot that warm is an aspiration).

My kitchen extension, built decades before I moved in, has next to no heat insulation. It's currently nine degrees in there. I look forward to the weather warming to the point where I don't worry about succumbing to hypothermia while making a cup of coffee!

9 degrees F I take it if you're talking about hypothermia?

Having seen and almost experienced it myself during a tramp in the Tararuas some years ago its not something to take lightly.

A friend bought a New Build semi. FAR TOO WARM! In Summer, so much that she would grumble... but nothing she could do about it unless Air Con installed... so much for 'Green' and 'energy efficiency'! Moved to an older property... fine!

Same here in a new build flat. Temperature never lower than 23C at night in summer with no artificial heating at all. Maxed at 36.  Even winter runs a steady 20C with the thermostats set to 15.  Once heated, Solar gain and body heat seems to be enough to keep it so. Still when the gas boiler has to come out I suppose I will moan about the good old days.
