Hallo All,

Have been quietly plugging away with my 1870's/80's Ironclad ships plus some extras... First up: The Glorious Ugliness that is the Amiral Duperré from 1883...

Thank you Fred, yes these are all scratch built at around 1/1000 scale... sort of...!! :D

Many thanks Lord Speedy, they do take some time to build, the Duperré especially was a bit of a beast!! :D

Love the ships of that era, also* - and, of course your scratch built models!  :-bd

*Evokes memories of past visits to HMS Warrior, standing alongside mock-ups of the Monitor turret with Dahlgren guns and gun deck of the Virginia, boyhood research utilising Jane's silhouettes of warships of the era when I tried scratch building balsa wood model ships using the 'sandwich' method, 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea and Kind Hearts and Coronets!   ;D   I was also intrigued by the colour scheme of the barrels of the deck guns on the French ship (the Warrior and ACW ones are black).
I may not have gone where I intended to go, but I think I have ended up where I needed to be.

Thank you Westmarcher, much appreciated!... The French seemed to change their colour schemes as often as they changed their ship designs!!!! :D
