How large is your gaming surface?

.. an informal poll.  Mine, for example, is 6' x 4' - achieved by placing three 2'x4' MDF sheets across my 3x6 desk.  More than this would be problematic unless I took the game to a friend's or to a community center; less would be pointless (I suppose just the 3x6 desk is fine as far as it goes.

So, on a routine basis what size surface do you put out (or go to) for your gaming?

Luddite

Depends on the game but typically:

6x4'

or

9x6'

We can put on two 24x6' areas, plus an 8x4'...and a boardgame table.

Tiny... thats why I play 10mm  :)

I often play on a coffee table (suitably terrained), have been known to play on a breakfast trey.

For 28mm games, I mostly use squared grid or hexes - so a bit larger, but  again, usually on a dinner table. I have a large 6 by 4 table, but rarely need it.

Leman

The LWA (Liverpool) can put up a 14'x6'. I typically game 6'x4' but am looking at creating a 7'x5' at home.

6' x 4' on the dining table using two 6' x 2' mdf boards covered in couple of blankets with a terrain mat on top.

In theory I could use a couple of 6' x 2..5' fold up tables but I'd have to find somewhere I was allowed to put them up to play ...

Small games are accommodated on a 30" x 30" card table.

Hi

For home use I have several different size pieces of MDF (6mm thick) which I put together on top of wall paper pasting tables (recently purchased some metal ones from homebase - not cheap but much more stable than the wooden ones) and then cover with the usual green cloth. Easy for storage in the garage.

Size depends on the game - typically 6'x4' (or 7'x5' at a bit of a squeeze) in the spare bedroom with the bed pushed up against the wall or up to 10'x6' in the garage (if it is not too cold) with plenty of room around it for chairs and places to stand the normal tea and biscuits. When we had an extension built about 5 years ago I managed to negotiate a decent sized garage with plenty of good lighting with my domestic line manager.

I do find the flexibility of the above arrangement really useful. Compared with some I'm obviously very lucky!

Cheers Paul

8' x 4', which just happens to be the size of a standard sheet of half-inch chipboard.
