The dismounts look right for empty horses.

Nice one, Jimbo.......Trust you're feeling better.

All the best - Phil. :)

I tend to put my horse handlers and mounts on a small circular base as a sort of marker next to the dismounted unit. Hope you're feeling better and get well soon.

Very nice Jim. Glad you're feeling better. My chaps' empty gee-gees have just been ordered. Like you I'll be going for rectangular bases.

Nice work.  It strikes me that Kallistra and the like must be blessing Warlord for luring loads of people in with their starter set, making it quite compatible in size with their range,  and then making the rest of the Warlord range so expensive that people are simply buying Kallistra instead.
I'll bring up the rest of the brigade.

Yes, it struck me as a manna from Heaven moment.

It would be interesting to know (LEON) if Pendraken sales of ACW figures has picked up too.

Bit of a surprise yesterday. I had ordered a set of the zouaves, Iron Brigade and cavalry from Warlord and they arrived yesterday. I was intrigued to see what all the fuss was about concerning Warlord resin. Imagine my surprise (there's a throwback to 1960s giggling schoolboys) when I opened the boxes to discover that everything was metal. I then looked more closely at the boxes to find that a sticker had been applied over the original wording, describing the contents as metal. Now I know there has been criticism of Warlord resin, and also criticism of the add on price points. I wonder if the change to metal was a response to this or whether the resin just wasn't working. Also, no indication, as far as I am aware, that Warlord had made this change. Suffice to say that these are really nice casts, but with an enormous number of casting points to remove (not flash, but those long stringy bits where the metal flows into the air release holes in the mould). Anyone else have any thoughts on this?

I too received my boxes of the 3 you mentioned and was surprised to see them in metal. I was expecting resin but very happy to get metal after seeing YouTube videos of people cleaning up the command figures in the pre-order starter set. Didn't look fun. The Iron Brigade and Zouaves also seem to be reflecting their 'elite' status by listening to their drill sergeants and all holding their weapons the same, which will speed up painting no end.
IMHO With the switch to metal it brings the infantry out of the expensive and into the competitive zone of pricing. The cavalry are still on the expensive side but not nearly as much as they were. With this change I'm interested to see how this effects wave 3

With a combination of wave 3 and Kallistra I expect to be all done with this particular epic. All my Union cavalry will be Kallistra, so one wave 2 box will do all my Confederate cavalry. Wave 3 will do all my Union skirmishers and Confederate horseholders and dismounted cavalry. So no messing about with resin it would seem.

All my cavalry, both Union and Confederate, mounted and dismounted are Kallistra so no need for me to buy wave 2 or 3.

I'll get my infantry skirmishers (if I decide to use them) from Kallistra too as will be my limbers and wagons.

I might experiment with some Kallistra Iron Brigade to see if I can get a similar mass effect to the Warlord EPIC ACW infantry.
