I read a book once.
But enough boasting.
It covered the whole life of Lord Stanley, showing the various events and family ties which he had to navigate to get/stay important and meant Richard trusting him to do anything (even with hostages) must have been an act of reconciliation and forgiveness.
Just shows what you get for being nice.

Even his enemies had to concede he was a first-class legislator who did plenty to improve the quality of life for most people.

Maenclocchog archers....

Eh ?......Do you mean that little(ish) village 10 (?) miles from us is famous for something ?
For me, it's a picturesque  ;D (and ridiculously out of the way detour to get from Techno Towers to Haverfordwest/Fishguard.)

The Welsh played their part in the Plantagenet wars, and I used to have a few friends living in Maenclochog (they probably made up 20% of the population, as I remember). Their little hamlet went by the name of Llonwen. But it's happy memories of visiting them that named the unit of longbowmen.

Fishguard ?.......To go to, or come back from, Ireland I suppose.....Never actually stopped there.  ;)

Haverfordwest ?......Nearest Argos 'shop'...and to get some good cardiovascular exercise, walking (or staggering, as far as I'm concerned) up the main street. =)

Cheers - Phil. ;)
