Doug Mountjoy, snooker player.

Victor Ambrus, a superb illustrator, probably best known as the chap on Time Team who sketched the site they were digging. Absolutely loved his work and always wanted to be able to draw like him, but failed miserably.

Sad news about Victor Ambrus, always liked seeing his take on what they were doing in the particular show.  :(

Heedless Horseman

In the early 'Time Team' his illustrations helped to 'recreate' the holes in the mud! BUT, the later Computer Graphics were amazing! For many years, 'Time Team' was the ONLY TV that i watched! LOL.  :)  :(
(40 Yrs ago. I should have been an Angry Young Man... but wasn't.
Now... I am an Old B******! )  ;)

Funnily enough some of the computer graphics were done by an old school friend who lived in the next village to me. It took a while for me to clock that it was her as it was the last thing I expected her to be doing!

It was definitely a (the) highlight of the week.
I'll still watch 'repeats' if I find them, while flicking thro' through channels on the TV......Haven't noticed any for a good while, sadly :(

Cheers - Phil.

Time Team episodes keep cropping up in my YouTube 'you may like this' thingy. Look like they're geniune uploads.

Off at a tangent I know, but ...

Here in the U.K. television channel More 4 has a new show (first episode aired yesterday). It's called The Great British Dig: History in Your Back Garden and is presented by Hugh Dennis. It is very much like Time Team. The first episode was digging near a Roman fort in Newcastle and the next episode (next Sunday) is searching for a Viking burial ground in North Yorkshire.

I enjoyed it and will watch the rest of the series.
