Other good news for me is that I have just completed my first ever house purchase today, in sunny Tuakau. Does this mean that I am an adult now at 56?

Congratulations on your new home.  I am afraid it does not make you an adult. I am the same age as you and have purchased 4 homes (one at a time), and still have the mental age of a small boy. In fact a couple of years back my stepdaughter bought me a card saying "Happy 5th Birthday" with a badge saying "I am 5"

Also the very fact you frequent this Forum with lots of other Old boys with low mental ages confirms this.

It 'works'....but it sounds VERY sick, so we're not risking switching back on.

Worse troubles at sea, and all that...My Brother in law is at death's door at the mo' with very aggressive liver cancer.....I'm expecting my 'little' niece to 'mail me at any time to say that it's over.
She's been expecting 'the end' for the last 48 hours.  :(

Sorry to hear about your BIL, Phil.

It's a nerve wracking time. I lost my SIL, brother, father and mother to cancer and it is very distressing.

My sister has just turned out to have a cancer that's going to need a prompt mastectomy; after she's been trying to keep sane for six months with a boyfriend who's very slowly learning to walk and speak after a kind of stroke.
