Flank attack fails to break the Iberian bodyguards.

Lots of infantry engagement; sadly, the battle was lost elsewhere before we could break through.

The caetrati couldn't scratch my triarii, but we couldn't catch them either.

Normality is resumed.

Romans have just stopped the Iberians, not a minute too soon - they must have been halfway through Tuscany by the time we finally got a victory. This time I gambled on the probabily of an Iberian cavalry offensive on the open flank, put my triarii there, and awaited the inevitable uncontrolled impetuous charge.

Roman foot locked shields and solidly held the scutarii. Heart in mouth time, but it worked.

Love your basecloth Kitty, looks very effective for games in semi-dry areas....is it a commercially made one or something you put together yourself?   

Commercial, courtesy of Tiny Wargames. I'm crazy about it. And the reverse has a meadow grass effect which is as good. Mat, rather than cloth, however; heavy to pack  away, but no creases, and it lies flat and stays that way.

I've liked that basecloth for quite a while, as well, Peter. Definitely the bees knees !!
