I just read the rule and I think this lack of adjustments on the races.

Have you made any improvements to reflect the peculiarities of a race?

I have been using HOTT and also made a lot of changes to the types and races for RQ.  In the end I wasn't entirely happy with those rules, but they're fast, so that's a definite plus.

HOTT are fast pace (should be  :D ) and games finish inside 45 minutes to an hour.  The army lists in back of book are for you to use if you want to. Our group create our armies using the HOTT rules on building your own armies. We have had a blast with these since they first came out.  I think I have around 16 armies in 25mm, 26 armies in 15mm and about 15 armies in 10mm.  I am slowly replacing all my 15mm armies with 10mm armies.

We have tried many fantasy rules, for quick games and tournaments where you are one on one, we use HotT. We even have multi-player games with several armies per side using Big Battle HotT and those games can last up to an hour or two tops.  Now it I want the really massive look to a fantasy battle we use Warmaster Fantasy and those one vs one games can take up to 2 hours +  to finish.

So I guess what I am saying is that I like the HOTT rules  m/

I played a lots of HotT games. Very easy rules and funny games if you play in "frendly" contest, taking easy way with ZOC (zone of control) and stands movements. I made some rules changes to adapt the rules in SF setting (Aliens Vs Marines). It's not the best ruleset in the world but easy and fast and could be a right choice for simple games of introduce in wargames new gamers.

Personally I don't as I like the simplicity of HoTT as written so adding rules feels like a mistake to me.

I hear you.  Tweaking HOTT has never been a success story for me, and the balance of the game system is delicate, some changes have turned out to be very unfortunate.  We have been trying to adapt it to Glorantha races (with lots of magic) for quite some time, but some changes completely disrupted the game mechanics.  It's a difficult exercise.  We now try to limit changes to in game parameters, and we apply modifiers very sparingly.

Did just that with some friends a couple of weekends ago.  First time I had played it; I don't think it would be my only gaming option but they are a nice side-choice.

republic of tolworth

Played two games last night. Lost both. Rubbish rules ;D

I like the fact I can get a couple of games in one evening and use all those weird figures I have. Adapts well to many genres.

League of the dayglow Aztec Empire.
