This is for the retired pastors among us (e.g., d_guy) ...

Background information: "Late Call" was a short religious programme which used to be aired late at night along time ago on Scottish TV. A 'close' is the common entrance and stairway to a tenement - a residential apartment block. The actor/comedian is the late Rikki Fulton.
I may not have gone where I intended to go, but I think I have ended up where I needed to be.
