Did you manage to beat Sunjester's French using Austrians then?

It wasn't all that clear from the original post... 

It was a shabby Austrian trick!*

The Austrians were on the defensive.
In the centre of the field I advanced three Infantry Brigades (2 French and 1 Italian). The centre French brigade were enthusiastic and rushed forward 3 moves. The two brigades either side were tardy and did not move, leaving the centre brigade rather exposed.
I expected them to take some casualties, as the Austrians could combine the fire of 2 brigades at them whilst they waited for their supports to catch up.
But no! The cunning Austrians charged, yes charged, one of their brigades into the French. The French were now caught on the defensive whilst formed in assault columns and with limbered artillery (not a good position to be in!).
I then proceeded to fail almost every morale test I had to take (including 3 routs in my first 5 tests!).

The Italians didn't move for ages, so we both fed another brigade into the untidy mess in the middle of the battlefield. on the flank the cavalry duked it out and my ability to fail morale tests continued.

With my cavalry brigade broken, one of the French infantry brigades broken and the other on the point of breaking, the Italians put away the wine and pasta and slammed into the Austrians, breaking one of their brigades in a single turn.

A clear Austrian victory, the French and allies were not getting anywhere near the objective!
But the valour of the Italian infantry had forced the Austrians to pull back and redeploy to protect the objective, so had effectively saved Napoleon III and what was left of the French infantry from utter destruction, so as far as they were concerned it was an Italian victory as well!

*The reality was LH was trying to shuffle one brigade slightly forward and rolled a blunder (double 6). The result of the blunder was to charge (another 6) and rolling for distance was 3 moves (a 5).

After the Blunder put one brigade "up close and personal" I looked across the table and said "I have no idea what to do." SJ agreed - they needed support, but it would mean exposing the left flank of the supporting Bde to the French right.

HMMMM ! Beating Sunjester who was using his own dice......

I think you need to do one of two things

1 You are on a very lucky streak -  Buy a lottery ticket you are bound to win multi- million pounds
2 You have used up all your luck - In which case you are likely to crapped on by a large seagull. This will go into your eyes rendering you temporarily blind and you will stagger into the road in front of a bus just as a driver sneezes forcing his eyes closed and he runs you over.

So in the case of 1  - its your round at the Hop Pole (all evening).  Or 2 - do you like grapes

I can confirm that the "SUN-Oh did I roll 6 out of 6 hits-JESTER" phenomenon is a usual occurrence when playing Sunjester. In fact  you are more likely to win the  National Lottery AND on the same day  have a threesome with gorgeous Identical twin sisters * than for Sunjester to roll unlucky dice, for an entire game

* other fantasies are available

Hold on. Nobody explained that was the alternative.  

Is it too late to say the French won?

The Austrians have to be allowed a few victories once in a while ....
